The Polytechnic Ibadan Hires Amotekun To Intercept Cultism, Other Criminal Activities
Eagle’s Sight News’ affirmed that the management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has engaged the service of Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) also known as Amotekun.
This development as gathered on Thursday became necessary as a result of the recent security violations that could result to more harmful insurgencies in the institution.
According to sources, the institution has in the last few weeks witnessed security insurgencies occasional by armed robbery, clashes among cult groups and other criminal activities.
Recall, The Western Nigerian Security Network (Amotekun) was established by southwest region governors to fight banditry, kidnapping, human rights violation among others in the region.
As gathered from daily post, a source on Thursday disclosed that the institution, due to the current security challenges, engaged some personnel of Amotekun to checkmate the menace. Eagle’s Sight News’ quoted daily post as follow,
“Our correspondent learnt that the Amotekun personnel have been stationed at strategic locations within the campus, including gates to the institution.
“Amotekun officials were seen mounting the Sewage gate of the institution and other strategic locations on the campus when our correspondent visited the institution.
“Public Relations Officer of the institution, Alhaji Soladoye Adewole confirmed the development to DAILY POST on Thursday.
“He said that the development was taken to secure the institution.
“There is nothing that is happening.
“We are all securing ourselves.
“It is a normal thing,” he said.”
