Seyi Is My Son, Comforter Is My Daughter – Oyo Assembly Lawmaker Shares Tribute, Mourns Oyelade

Oyo Assembly Lawmaker Representing Ibadan North Constituency1, Hon(Dr) Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi Olajide has condoled with the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, and the people of Ibadan over the demise of Chief Lateef Oyelade.

In a condolence note made available to Journalists Saturday a copy forwarded to eaglessightnews.com.ng, Hon Olufunke Comforter described Ekefa Olubadan and Babasale Musulumi of Ibadanland, late Senior Chief Lateef Oyelade as a mentor, warrior, an exceptional man, a father to many, and a philanthropist whose impacts can never be forgotten.

The lawmaker explained that the demise of Baba Oyelade is a great loss not only to the Oyelade family but to the entire Ibadan land adding that Oyelade’s fatherhood style is worthy of emulation.

Comforter while walking down memory lane, narrated her experience with the late Baba Oyelade over 20 years ago, adding that the late Oyelade stood by her political pursuit from inception to the emergence and office assumption.

Comforter in a full tribute to the late Chief Lateef Oyelade writes;

“Awesome God, death killed a brave man, my good father, and a warrior.

“Baba Oyelade has been a word of father’s figure to me in terms of any challenges, he advised. He has taken me like his own daughter. I met him more than twenty years ago. And Baba has been there for me encouraging me many times without count.

“I have been celebrating  Eid-el-Kabir and  Ramadan festival at Baba Oyelade’s residence since I had an encounter with him. Baba was a good man!

“Even in my political pursuit, he has been there for me from inception until his demise.

“When I got my certificate of returns and my Inec certificate after winning the election, my team and I visited him and he prayed for us.

“Baba unknowingly to him that he wouldn’t be able to make it had earlier promised to visit me at the office to pray and I replied that I would be the one to be coming down.

“Baba in Yoruba Language would say ‘Comforter mi , Omo mi, Comfort yi ,eniyan mi ni, Omo mi dada.

“Baba shared different stories about his life and charged me with them.

“Baba was a man with a good heart,a giver,a philanthropist who always wanted everyone around him.

“Baba was a lover of Governor Makinde. During the election Baba will always say that Seyi is my son and you are my daughter.

“I have been praying and fasting that Seyi Makinde should  win,. You are my daughter and you will equally win too.

“Baba mi , su re o.Adeiu “. Comforter, on this note  prayed that the Lord grant Baba Oyelade eternal rest,  adding that  almighty grant the family, and the whole people of Ibadan land fortitude to bear the loss and that God raise more fathers worth of emulation to Ibadan Land.
