Alleged N10,000 Theft: How 13-Year-Old Boy Took Own Life After Severe Torture
Kaduna: In a devastating incident gathered by Eaglessightnews, the Ungwan Maigero Community are mourning the death of a 13-year-old boy, Wisdom Hashimu, who later died by suicide after alleged theft.
The report allegedly revealed that Wisdom was severely tortured by a soldier and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF).
According to reports, Wisdom was accused of stealing N10,000 from a neighbor, Hope, on June 1. However, it was later discovered that Hope’s younger brother was responsible for the theft.
Wisdom’s father, Mr. Saul, revealed that the soldier and JTF members dragged Wisdom and Hope’s brother to their office, where Wisdom was severely beaten. “At the civilian JTF office, Wisdom was severely beaten to the point where he was unable to walk. He returned home after receiving medical attention,” Mr. Saul said.
Tragically, Wisdom’s lifeless body was found hanging in their compound on Thursday, June 7. His father lamented that the JTF took the law into their own hands, torturing Wisdom instead of reporting the matter to the police.
The family is now demanding justice for the torture that led to Wisdom’s suicide. The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, has confirmed that an investigation is underway.
“An investigation has since commenced. The Commissioner of Police has directed the Department of Criminal Investigation to take full charge of the case, and whosoever is involved will be brought to justice,” Hassan said.
