Throat cancer is on the rise in the US and UK with some experts pointing at oral sex as the cause.
Rising cases of oral cancers could be caused by the high levels of oral sex with an otherwise harmless virus being passed between people with multiple sexual partners They say it is linked to the transmission of an otherwise harmless virus with a link to causing cancer in specific conditions.

According to the University of Birmingham’s Dr Hisham Mehanna human papillomavirus (HPV) is to blame for some 70% of of throat cancer cases.

Some 54% of Americans are understood to have had the vaccine for HPV however population safety would require more like 80% of the population to have had it. “This has been due to a large rise in a specific type of throat cancer called oropharyngeal cancer.” One of the most common forms of cancer in the throat is oropharyngeal, forming in the back of the throat and around the tonsils, and is most likely caused by HPV.
