Obi’s Presidential Ambitions Dead in the Water:Omokri Alleges of Allegiance to Biafran Flag

“According to Omokri ,Obi’s.Calling for the release of a man who publicly urged his supporters to kill Nigerian military and paramilitary forces, has shown his allegiance to the flag behind him in this photo.”

Reno Omokri, a prominent socio-political activist, has accused Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi of pledging allegiance to the Biafran flag. Omokri made this claim after Obi called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

According to Omokri, Obi’s statement amounts to an “obituary” for his presidential ambitions. Omokri wrote on his social media page: “By calling for the release of a man who publicly urged his supporters to kill Nigerian military and paramilitary forces, Peter Obi has shown his allegiance to the flag behind him in this photo.”

Obi had earlier urged the Federal Government to release Kanu, EndSARS protesters, and other freedom fighters, stating that protesters have the right to express their grievances through peaceful demonstrations.

Omokri’s post included a photo of Obi with the Biafran flag and a logo resembling the flag used for Obi’s Hero beer. Omokri declared that he will not be intimidated from expressing his opinions, stating, “My body does not secrete the fear hormone.”

Omokri’s accusations have sparked a heated debate in the political sphere, with some supporting his views and others defending Obi’s stance.

Obi’s call for Kanu’s release has been seen by some as a move to appease the Igbo electorate, a crucial voting bloc in the upcoming presidential election. However, Omokri’s allegations have raised questions about Obi’s true intentions and loyalties.

The controversy has also highlighted the sensitive nature of the Biafran issue, which remains a contentious topic in Nigerian politics. Kanu’s detention and the ongoing agitation for Biafran independence have been a thorn in the side of the Federal Government, which has struggled to address the issue.

As the presidential election approaches, the debate over Obi’s allegiance and the Biafran question is likely to intensify, with significant implications for the country’s political landscape.

In his own words, Omokri emphasized his unwavering stance, saying, “And by the way, anybody or group of people or movement that thinks they can intimidate me and prevent me from saying what I really believe at any point in time obviously does not know me. My body does not secrete the fear hormone.”
