Just In: Amid Defection Rumour, Peter Obi Meets Gov Wike in Rivers
Eagle’s Sight News reports that the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, on Wednesday visited Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike at his residence.
Obi’s visit to Wike in rivers state is coming barely a week after Gov Wike has been rumoured to have intention of defecting from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Eagle’s Sight News recalled that the Presidential Candidate of the PDP , Ex Vice President Atiku Abubarka had jettisoned the agreement of the committee that nominated Gov Wike as his running mate and later picked Okowa which he preferred better than him.
Meanwhile, Atiku in a statement made available to Journalists has stated clearly his reason for picking Okowa.
This development however, has caused several opinions and reactions by the stakeholders of the party and members of the public.
Contrary to the rumoured defection, Wike in a statement had debunked his defection rumour.
According to the recent update gathered by this medium, Channels TV reports that upon arrival, Peter Obi was taken inside where he met Wike in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The meeting was held behind closed doors.
Peter Obi’s visit is coming four days after the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi paid Governor Wike a visit.
Wike is yet to react to the emergence of Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa as the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP.
The duo, however, did not speak on the purpose of the meeting as newsmen were not granted access.
