JUST IN: 24 Oyo Assembly Members Berate Oyo Deputy Governor, Olaniyan Over Misconduct, Begin Impeachment Proceedings

Eage’s Sight News reports that the lawmakers of the Oyo State House of Assembly have impeached Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, the Deputy Governor to Governor Seyi Makinde.

According to reports, all the lawmakers except for Hon. Ayawo Oyebunmi who is from his constituency, assented the impeachment process.

The members at Tuesday’s plenary also alleged the deputy governor of Financial Recklessness , Abuse of Office, Abandonment of Official duties and Insubordination, among other offense.

It was gathered that the House has issued out a 7-day ultimatum to face panel.

“Failure to do so would make the House to begin fresh moves to impeach him,” said a member who pleaded for anonymity.

The speaker of the House, Debo Ogundoyin who acknowledged the document said the House will treat the document in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended in 2011 (section 188)

This is coming a few weeks after the Deputy Governor announced his exit from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and subsequent joining of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
