Oyo NUJ Begins Press Week With Church Service
The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) today held a church service to mark the beginning of 2023 NUJ Press Week.
The service, which was held at the Christ Apostolic Church, Eagle’s Wing, Wakajaiye, Ibadan, the state capital, had members of the council in attendance.
In a message titled: “Speaking the Truth”, the presiding minister, Pastor J Akinade, charged worshippers and members of the press to speak the truth in their dealings.
He noted that everybody in the society, including government and the masses, relies on journalists to be informed, saying a nation that is not informed is deformed.
Speaking from the scripture, Exodus 23: 1-8, Pastor Akinade charged journalists to always bring to the consciousness of leaders the reason to do the right things by speaking the truth always.
He said journalists are privileged people who should know the truth and must discharge their duties without fear.

Akinade said, “I want to charge you Journalists to be truthful, and be fair to Christian leaders, before you report negative stories about them. May God grant you wisdom from above that will make you rise above tribulations and storms of life”.
