IBADAN NORTHWEST PDP CHAIRMAN ADESINA, OTHERS BEATEN AS SUSPECTED ARMED THUGS ALLEDGLY LINKED TO A FED REP INVADES PARTY MEETING .

The Ibadan Northwest Local Government Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Lukman Adesina and several members of the party narrowly escaped death yesterday Friday 1st April, 2022 during the weekly general meeting of the party held at Ebenezer Primary School, Salvation Army, Ibadan.

The meeting which was peaceful prior the arrival of the House of Representative Member, Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency, Hon. Stanley Olajide Odidi-Omo became rowdy as masked thugs suspected to be members of the Park Management System (PMS) under Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi (Auxiliary) brandished guns, machetes, local charms etc and began to shoot sporadically while party faithfuls and leaders including the Chairman of the Ibadan Northwest Local Government, Alhaji Rahmon Adepoju scamper for safety.

According to the news sent to this reliable platform, source reveals that hell broke loose when Hon. Odidi-Omo attempted to declare his ambition to re-contest for the house of representatives seat of the Constituency and quoting that the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Engr. Seyi Makinde has handed him the Nomination and expression of interest forms as the sole and automatic candidate of the Constituency.

This claim apparently did not augur well with the party leaders and members who objected to the claims.

Thenceforth, Hon. Stanley Odidi-Omo who was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Ibadan Southwest Local Government, Alhaji Adigun Atuu, Alhaji Abass Alesinloye etc took offence in the objection signalled the standby thugs, numbering about forty (40) who were conveyed in five buses in the convoy of the House of Representatives Member to began sporadic shootings and attack the leadership of the Party in the Local Government with chants such as “Not even Seyi can stop our Rep”, “Odidi-Omo is the anointed” etc rented the air as people ran helter skelter for safety.

Meanwhile, the Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Rahmon Adepoju has expressed shock of party loyalists and Leaders over the wanton, unprovoked but deliberate shootings and attack describing it as barbaric and unexpected of an Honourable Member of the House of Representatives. He therefore demanded a written and well publicised apology to Party members and leaders from Hon. Odidi-Omo.

Party leaders present during the lethal attack including Alhaji Labule Ishola(Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Liaison Officer to the Governor), Hon. Kola Anibiire and others has however called on His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde to call Hon. Odidi-Omo to order and let the will of God and the people prevail over who will flag the party’s ticket in the 2023 general elections in the Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency

As at the time of filing this report, we can authoritatively disclose that not than twenty-nine (29) members of the PDP in the local government including aged women are in the hospital receiving treatments over various degrees of injuries sustained during the attack.
