JUST-IN: Four Dead, Many Injured In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

A white 18-seater Hummer Toyota bus with the license plate JJJ 941 XA (Lagos) on Saturday overturned along the Ibadan/Oyo expressway, resulting in the loss of at least four lives and leaving several others injured.

According to reports, a combination of excessive speed and overloading caused the accident.

While a total of twenty individuals were involved in the mishap, medical professionals at the State Hospital in Oyo were only able to confirm the fatalities of four victims.

The deceased individuals have been transferred to the mortuary.

According to DCC Bayode Olugbesan, the Atiba Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), “All the victims are male and their destination is North, the cause of the crash was overspeeding and overloading, the bus was supposed to carry 14 passengers but was loaded with 20 passengers.”

In light of this incident, DCC Bayode Olugbesan appealed to all motorists to exercise caution while driving, urging them to avoid overspeeding, overloading their vehicles, and travelling at night.

A source within the hospital, who preferred to remain anonymous, disclosed that a total of fifteen victims were brought in for medical attention.
