Flash: Makinde, Other PDP Governors Throws Weight Behind Fubara Amid Rivers Crisis

Eaglessightnews reports that the People Democratic Party Governors has thrown weight behind Rivers Governor ,Mr Siminalayi Fubara amid the ongoing crisis in the state.

This development follows PDP Governors Forum’s meeting On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, held in Enugu, chaired by Governor Bala A. Mohammed of Bauchi State.

The meeting has in attendance Governor Makinde of Oyo State, Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta and others.

The forum addressed the ongoing crisis in the Rivers State chapter of the party and expressed their support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

According to a further update sighted on Journalist101 a communiqué released after the meeting, the forum stated: “The Forum notes the crises in the Rivers State Chapter of the party and commits to ensuring peace. The Forum has resolved to stand by His Excellency, Sir Sim Fubara, Governor of Rivers State; while at the same time employ wider consultations with stakeholders for a peaceful resolution and thus find a lasting solution to the crises.”

The meeting also commended the host, Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, for hosting the first meeting of the PDP Governors outside Abuja in recent times. They acknowledged his efforts in holding the party together in Enugu State and the entire South-Eastern geopolitical zone. The governors also praised his achievements, highlighted by landmark projects and interventions.

In attendance were 13 governors, including:

2. Gov. Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers State) – Vice Chairman
3. Gov. Peter N. Mba (Enugu State) – Host
4. Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa State) – Member

6. Gov. Douye Diri (Bayelsa State) – Member
7. Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta State) – Member
8. Gov. Godwin Obaseki (Edo State) – Member
9. Gov. Seyi Makinde (Oyo State) – Member
10. Gov. Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau State) – Member
11. Gov. Agbu Kefas (Taraba State) – Member
12. Gov. Dauda Lawal (Zamfara State) – Member

The PDP Governors’ Forum reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Governor Fubara and resolving the crisis in Rivers State through wider consultations and peaceful means.
