Eagle’s Sight News reports that Engr Seyi Makinde the re-elected Governor of Oyo State has renamed the First Technical University to the name of former Gov of Oyo State late Senator Abiola Ajimobi. The First Technical University will now be called Senator Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University Seyi Makinde says.
This development was disclosed on Friday while delivering his address at the varsity’s 2nd convocation ceremony held at the school auditorium.
According to the Governor, the renaming of the First Technical University, Ibadan to Senator Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University is to maintain the former governor late Isiaka Ajimobi’s legacy and contributions to education development in the Oyo state.
Eagle’s Sight News recalls, that Late Ajimobi, established the state-owned first technical university in the southwest in 2017. And some of the aims are to bring substantial education to the state and produce skillful professionals with adequate entrepreneurial skills
The Governor while addressing the students also said there’s a right time to search and also count losses, adding that we live in a world where we all have to pursue our dreams.
He emphasized that he contested the election three times but he couldn’t win he never gives up to serve his people; and at God’s timing when he contested for the fourth time, he won.
Makinde in the same vein narrated how he also secured a job at a shell oil company and how he continued to strive till he becomes the governor of Oyo state.
Hence, the governor admonished the students to keep working hard and also advised them not to just seek employment but to also create employment.
