Democracy Day:Speaker,Egbeda LG, Oladebo’Simple’ Felicitates Oyo Residents,Nigerians

The House leader of Egbeda Local Government,Hon Ibrahim Oladebo fondly called’Simple’  has felicitated Egbeda residents, Oyo residents and Nigerians at large over the occasion of Democracy day

In a statement made available to Eaglessightnews he writes:

HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY 2023🇳🇬

This day, 12th of June, 1993. Nigeria held its first Presidential Elections after the military coup of 1983 which was headed by General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

Arguably, the June 12 election is considered the freest and most peaceful election since Nigeria’s Independence in 1960.

Importantly, Democracy Day is one of the most important days in the history of Nigeria and it used to be celebrated every May 29 until June 6, 2018, when the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, declared June 12 as the new Democracy Day, in order to commemorate the events of the day of the Presidential Election in 1993 where results indicated a win for the hero, Chief M.K.O Abiola of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), against Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention (NRC). Painfully, Chief M.K.O Abiola was never declared winner as the then Head Of State, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida annulled the polls citing irregularities. May God forgive him and those in connection with the annulment!🙏🏼

Nonetheless, we are celebrating the year 2023 Democracy Day with a ‘Renewed Hope’ and also we are glad seeing the newly sworn-in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu making Nigerians proud with the policies.

May God rest the soul of the victorious President Nigerians never had, Late Chief M.K.O Abiola!🙏🏼
