Breaking:Oyo Deputy Gov, Olaniyan Loses Bid To Stop Impeachment In Court

A recent update gathered by Eagle’s Sight News has disclosed that ustice Ladiran Akintola of an Oyo State High Court, sitting in Ibadan has dismissed the suit filed by the deputy governor of the state to stop the state House of Assembly from removing him from office.

Recall, that this medium previously reported that Olaniyan impeachement proceeding fwas stopped by Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan.

The court ordered that the impeachment process by the state House of Assembly against the Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, be put on hold.

Justice Ladiran Akintola, yesterday, said that status-quo must be maintained pending the hearing of the application for interlocutory injunctions before it.

It, therefore, adjourned the matter till July 5, 2022 for continuation of hearing.

Court backing him that the Oyo assembly can not impeach him.

Giving another judgment today, the court held that the House of Assembly has not breached the provisions of the constitution on the removal of governor or deputy governor.

In a statement issued to the court, the lawmakers substantially complied with the provisions of Section 188 of the Constitution on the removal process. The court said the lawmakers should continue with the removal process.
