Just In: Makinde Lifts Suspension On ‘No Work, No Pay’ For LAUTECH Lecturers

Eagle’s Sight News has gathered that Governor Makinde shortly after meeting with the Union of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, has lifted the no work, no pay ban placed on them.

Recall that Makinde had in June declared the withholding of subvention of lectures of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH who refused to resume to work despite the instruction of the state government for the resumption of academic activities in the university.

The Association of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Thursday night met with the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde to discuss about school resumption and the renaming of the institution to Ladoke Akintola University (LAU).

The development, however, made unions of the institution to meet with the governor, where he lifted the suspension on “No work No pay” for striking lecturers.

Our correspondent gathered that subvention of May and June would be released soon while academic activities and other imbroglio would be a thing to be put to rest soon as efforts are now in top gear to restore parity. Mouth Piece reported.

Sources who were at the meeting also told OYOINSIGHT that “the governor graciously lifted ban on the no work no pay sanction placed on the university with immediate effect and requested the workers’ unions on campus to liaise with the university management to harmonize their demands and present same to the government with the promise to attend to the demands to the best of the ability of the government.”

The meeting, which held at the private residence of the governor had in attendance his deputy, Bayo Lawal, Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN; Biodun Olaniran and Abegunrin, professors and LAUTECH ASUU chairman and secretary respectively; Fajoye Hamzat O, SSANU chairman; Agbomojo Isiaka, NAAT Ag.
