In a stunning turn of events, after much speculation, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has changed the narrative by taking a bold step to visit former Governor of the state, High Chief Rasheed Ladoja.

The recent development was disclosed via the official Facebook handle of Makinde’s Personal Assistant, Akeem Azeez, on Thursday.

Recall that there have been several reports claiming Makinde and High Chief Ladoja are not on good terms. Eaglessightnews reports that the dispute between the duo, as some online news outlets disclosed, was linked to Ladoja’s refusal to accept the beaded crown as contained in the renewed Olubadan Chieftaincy Laws, and Ladoja’s endorsement of another candidate in the last general elections in place of Governor Makinde, who has taken him as a father and supported him in all aspects.

Meanwhile, in surprising development,the duo who have not been seen together after this incident usual shocked critics in a recent move when seen together on Wednesday. Makinde who recently began his vacation visited Ladoja at his Ondo Street, Bodija private residence.

Recall that some weeks ago, there were several online reports claiming the state Governor was trying to prevent Ladoja from ascending the Olubadan throne through renewed Olubadan Chieftaincy Laws.

However, Eaglessightnews reported on August 4th that Ladoja, the next in line to the recently crowned Olubadan, Oba Olakuleyin, in a surprising development, officially revealed his intention to wear the controversial beaded crown, adding that Makinde has good intentions for him.

Akeem Azeez, Makinde’s Personal Assistant, emphasized that the duo’s intention is peace, to move the state forward, which is beneficial to everyone in Oyo state. The full statement reads: “Yesterday, as GSM officially started his holiday, he paid a courtesy visit to Elder statesman and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, who has also expressed his readiness to wear the beaded crown, Former Governor Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja. I’m wondering what people who have been raising specters of violence on their timelines will write about again. We all need peace to move the state forward, and that is what the two leaders are after.”

Netizens, including notable figures, have commended Makinde and High Chief Rasheed Ladoja’s recent embrace, adding that it is an amicable solution from a good governor not intoxicated by power.
