Trouble Looms In Ido PDP As LG Chairman, Adeojo Announces Sack Of CoS, Adeyanju

As politicians and party stalwarts in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ido local government chapter, continue to bask in the euphoria of electoral victory at the just concluded Governorship and state assembly elections, fresh crisis seems to be brewing up as the executive chairman of the Council, Sheriff Adeojo has announced the sack of the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the council, Comrade Mustapha Adeyanju.

Adeojo made the announcement earlier today March 28, at a PDP stakeholders meeting held in Ido to x-ray and evaluate the just concluded election.

Investigation by Western Mirror.com.ng revealed that Adeojo and Adeyanju had sustained a long animosity following the council chairman’s initial suspension by the Oyo state House of Assembly before his consequent reinstatement.

Adeyanju, who was the PDP Returning Officer for the 2023 Governorship and House of Assembly elections is also the PDP youths coordinator in Ido.

According to multiple sources who also confirmed the development to this online news media said, party stakeholders and local government excos were gathered in Ido to share a moment of celebration together following the party’s landslide victory at the just concluded Governorship and House of Assembly polls.

They expressed shock that when it was the turn of the executive chairman of the local government to speak, he immediately announced the immediate sacking of the local government Chief of Staff, Comrade Adeyanju.

The sources also confirmed that Adeojo also directed that all further correspondence to his office should henceforth, no longer pass through the Chief of Staff, Comrade Adeyanju.

When contacted, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Adeojo confirmed to Western Mirror.com.ng that his Chief of Staff, Adeyanju has been relieved of his job following allegations of nonchalant attitude to work.

Adeojo, who disclosed that party leaders in Ido were duly consulted before making the announcement also accused Adeyanju of abandoning his official duties and only reports to work when issues bothering on monetary benefits were involved.

“Me sacking my Chief of Staff is nobody’s business. I was the one that nominated his name to Chief Bayo Lawal for appointment and he works for my office, I have the sole right to replace him so, I don’t see why relieving him of his job is anybody’s business.
“He doesn’t come to work, so, why is he so bothered about it? The only reason I waited till now is that the leaders told me settle him out and make full payments for his furnitures and I said okay so, there’s no point going about what’s not.

“He doesn’t come to work, ask anybody you know he doesn’t respect the office he served, so what else? All he did throughout the elections are things I can’t even say to anyone.” Adeojo disclosed.

While countering Adeojo on phone when contacted, Adeyanju debunked all the allegations levelled against him by Adeojo demanding to be invited to a round table face to face talk with the chairman to adequately address the lingering issue.

He maintained that he has never undermined the powers of the chairman nor abandoned his official duties as alleged. He added that he has remained committed to the party which culminated into the landslide victory the PDP recorded in Ido at the just concluded governorship and house of assembly elections, being the party returning officer for both elections.

“Let the party leaders invite us to a round table to properly address this issue. I have nothing personal against my chairman because he’s the executive chairman. I give him maximum respect and also go about my legitimate duties as the Chief of Staff.

“I don’t know where those allegations are coming from but I know in due time, everything will be laid bare and the real issues will be properly addressed and resolved. I don’t know who else is more committed and loyal to our party in Ido and you can come and and make your findings yourself.” Adeyanju said.
