Deji Ola, Friends clean up Ibadan, raise awareness on proper waste disposal

Comrade Deji Ola, on Saturday, alongside some friends under the auspices of Friends of Deji Ola, engaged in a clean-up exercise and environmental awareness at Bodija International Market in Ibadan North Local Government Area.

The exercise, which started around Bodija Ojurin, covered the main market, Kara and some other parts of the market.

Members of the NGO were seen holding play cards with different inscriptions like; Our Community is our Treasure, Keep it Clean, Clean spaces, happy faces, keep your Ibadan clean, dispose your refuse properly, Clean communities, healthy citizens, Attract friends, not flies etc.

The Convener, Comrade Deji Ola, who is also the Personal Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde’s Chief of Staff expressed his gratitude to the volunteers for their contribution to the creation of an environmental friendly atmosphere in the state.

Speaking further, Ola emphasised the importance of sanitation in our community noting that ‘cleanliness is next to Godliness’

He also explained how effective the awareness is with the rate of responses from commuters, market men and women and other passers by.

“We shall continue to compliment the efforts of the state Government in our own little way as a little effort towards saving the environment is better than no effort” he reiterated.

He also specially appreciated Mr Tobi Oyewunmi, the Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde on sports development for joining them during that important activity noting that, the NGO shall continue to collaborate with all interested individuals and corporate organizations on their efforts to achieve their aims and objectives.

One Mrs Sidikat who is a Trader in the market appreciated the teeming volunteers for the wonderful initiative while also encouraging them never to feel discouraged as their genuine intentions is worthy of applause from all well meaning Nigerians.
