In a renewed drive to improve sanitation and promote environmental sustainability in Oyo State, the Chairman of the Oyo State Waste Management Authority (OYOWMA), Hon. Waheed Akanbi Biiro, on Monday paid a working visit to the Lapite dump site, located in the Moniya area of Akinyele Local Government.
Hon. Biiro was accompanied by the General Manager of OYOWMA, Mr. Afolabi, and the agency’s lead technical officer, Engineer Shola. The visit served as an on-the-ground assessment to evaluate the current state of the facility and identify strategic solutions to enhance waste management operations in the area.
Speaking to the press during the inspection, Eagles Sight News reports that Hon Biiro expressed concern over the condition of the site and emphasized the state government’s unwavering commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier environment for residents living in and around the community.
He assured that critical materials and equipment would soon be deployed to improve the site’s efficiency and reduce environmental hazards. “Our administration is fully committed to promoting public health and environmental safety. We are taking deliberate steps to make this site cleaner, more organized, and safer for those living nearby,” he stated.
Hon. Biiro also reiterated his alignment with Governor Seyi Makinde’s vision for a cleaner Oyo State, while urging residents to support the government’s efforts by embracing responsible waste disposal habits.
The visit underscores OYOWMA’s continuous commitment to tackling waste management challenges and improving sanitary conditions across all local government areas of the state.,
