OLUBADAN: OBA ADETUNJI’S RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE WAS INCOMPARABLE- HON. DADA AWOLEYE.
Hearing the news of my father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji Ajeogungunniso1, the Olubadan of Ibadanland saddens my heart.
Speaking with the newsmen in Ibadan at the Olubadan’s palace to commiserate with the Olubadan’s family, Hon. Awoleye said: “I felt so sad at the news of Kabiyesi’s death. However, I am happy he died a hero. The late Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji in his lifetime brought immense development to Ibadanland. He was very mature, pleasant and peaceful.”
“He was vastly known for not discriminating against any religion- all he lived for was how Ibadanland would be a cynosure of all eyes.
Awoleye, who is the Jagun Atunluse of Ibadanland, a chieftaincy title accorded him by late Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, states that the death of Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, has left an hiatus difficult to bridge especially in terms of his Socratic humility which is rare in our clime.
The former federal lawmaker says he could remember some of Oba Adetunji’s words still on marble that, “No one owns tomorrow, we live now and not forever.”
Makinde’s aide, Hon Dada Awoleye, who is also the Special Adviser/Chairman, Oyo State Primary Health Care Board further said, His reign since ascension to his fore-father’s throne was peaceful and worthwhile for the good people of Ibadan land in particular and Oyo state in general
Hon. Awoleye used the medium to commiserate with the chief mourner, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, Olubadan’s wife, Olori Rasheedat Adetunji, Olubadan in council, Council of all chiefs, CCII, Ibadan sons and daughters both home and in the diaspora, that the almighty God will give us the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Though baba was in his old Age of 93 but inspite of that his death struck us like a cyclone. His ennobling attitude will be greatly missed.
God knows the best than we human and we believe that he will be granted Al-janah fridaus.
Sun Ree oo Baba Alaafia….
