Governor Ahamadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved and ordered the payment of N70,000 new national minimum wage with effect from August, 2024.
This was disclosed by the chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Emmanuel Fashe in Yola, the state capital on Monday.
Fintiri’s approval for the payment of the new minimum wage comes as some governors still remain opposed, indicating inability to cope due to alleged paucity of funds.
Speaking to SaharaReporters on the development, Fashe said “His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has proved to be a labour friendly governor, having the interest and welfare of the state civil servants at heart.
“He broke the news to us this afternoon at a meeting in his office, where he directed the Account-General of the state to use the current salary structure to calculate and implement the new wage effective from August.”
