MECHANIC ARRAIGNED  FOR STEALING CUSTOMER’S FAULTY CAR PARKED ON IBADAN HIGHWAY

Ibadan – A 44-year-old mechanic, Rasheed Saheed, was arraigned before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Ibadan on Thursday for allegedly stealing a customer’s car worth N5 million. Eaglessightnews has gathered.

Saheed pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of stealing and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

According to the Prosecutor, Mr. Philip Amusan, “Saheed abandoned the car, which was given to him to repair, on the highway, being property of one Oluwadamilare Oladeji.”

Amusan stated that on February 17, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., “Saheed was given the car key to remove the car, which developed a fault on the highway, and repair it, but he failed to do so.”

The prosecutor noted that the offenses committed by the defendant contravened Sections 249(d) and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Court President, Mrs. Moji Aworemi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties. Aworemi stressed that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant.

The case was adjourned until July 22, 2024, for further hearing.

Addressing the court, Amusan said, “The car key was given to Saheed to remove the car, which developed a fault on the highway, and repair, but he failed to do so.”

The defendant’s actions have sparked outrage among the community, with many calling for justice to be served. The case is ongoing, and the court’s decision is eagerly awaited.
