The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated South Africa 4-2 in a penalty shootout to advance to the AFCON 2023 final, currently taking place in Ivory Coast. Intel region reports.

Nigeria edged out South Africa on penalties to book their place in the AFCON 2023 final.

The highly anticipated semi-final saw both teams battle it out for 120 minutes, ending in a 1-1 draw.

But it was the penalty shootout that truly tested the nerves of the players and the fans.

Troost-Ekong converted a penalty in the 67th minute after Victor Osimhen was fouled in the box.

South Africa equalised with a late goal from Teboho Mokoena moments before the end of the game.

The match ended in a 1-1 tie after 120 minutes, with the winner determined in a penalty shootout.

The Nigerian football team has done it again! In a thrilling match that ended in penalties, Iheanacho, Troost-Ekong, Omeruo, and Moffi all stepped up to the plate and converted their shots with ease.

However, even the best can falter, as Ola Aina unfortunately missed his penalty.

Nevertheless, the team’s incredible performance and sheer determination have left us all in awe. Congratulations to the Nigerian team on their undeniable victory.

Nigeria will play either hosts Ivory Coast or DR Congo in the final on Sunday.

Nkunku was Chelsea’s marquee signing of the summer, joining from RB Leipzig for a club-record fee.

He was expected to play a key role in Mauricio Pochettino’s team this season, but his injury is a major blow.

Chelsea’s other attacking options include Raheem Sterling, Nicolas Jackson, and Mykhailo Mudryk, but Nkunku’s loss will be felt.

Hakimi:Why Footballer Achraf,Wife Become Trending Topic Across Globe(All You Need To Know)-Eaglesightnews

Morocco and Paris St-Germain footballer, Achraf Hakimi has become a trending topic across the world after his wife discovered he owns nothing despite earning millions of Euros as a sportsman in his prime.

Hakimi’s wife, Hiba Abouk, had requested a divorce and sought to divide all of the footballer’s assets equally, but during the court session, it was revealed that he had nothing in his name.

Hiba was shocked to learn that her 24-year-old husband had placed all of his assets and funds in his mother’s name, and that he frequently asked her to purchase items for him.

Millions of dollars in Hakimi’s pay were deposited in accounts with his mother’s name on them, along with all of his homes, cars, clothes, and jewelry.

According to reports, his mother’s name is on the title of 80% of everything he owns.

Recall that in 2018, Hakimi and Hiba started dating; they were wed in 2020; and they had two boys. She filed for divorce sometime in March 2023 following an allegation of cheating.

The fact that Hakimi was under investigation in Paris, France, for alleged rape, even though his marriage to the Spanish actress had already been deteriorating for months, was the last straw.

Hakimi’s decision to protect his riches by not having it registered in his name has garnered international attention, and some have praised him for being “wise” and a living legend.

How Nigerian, Adesanya knocks Pereira Out, Reclaims UFC Middleweight Title-(Photos)Eagle’s Sight News

Israel Adesanya has reclaimed the UFC middleweight title from Alex Pereira in the main event of UFC 287 at the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida on Sunday morning.

The knockout came from nowhere as Pereira was initially on the offense.

Pereira was unleashing body hooks and a knee to the ribs, with Adesanya backed against the cage, when the challenger threw a right hook out of nowhere!!

It froze Pereira, so similar to the end of the first round in their last fight, but this time there was no buzzer to save Pereira; the next punch dropped him, and he was out cold after the fist.

Adesanya then celebrated by imitating firing arrows at his rival.

Adesanya suffered a controversial points loss to Pereira in their first fight, a kickboxing match. In their rematch, also in kickboxing, Adesanya was leading but was knocked out. In November, in their first MMA clash, again Adesanya was ahead, but he was beaten in the final round.

After seven years in which they have fought four times, ‘The Last Stylebender’ finally gets his win over Pereira, and in stunning fashion.

Transfer: FIFA bans Aubameyang from playing for another club apart from Chelsea, Barcelon

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s desire to quit Chelsea could face a major stumbling block.

It has emerged that the Gabon striker, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid, cannot play for another club apart from Chelsea and Barcelona.

Aubameyang moved to Stamford Bridge from Barca in the summer while Thomas Tuchel was still in charge of the team.

However, he has struggled for game time under Tuchel’s replacement, Graham Potter.

The height of it was Potter bringing on Aubameyang in the fourth minute against Manchester City last week and taking him off in the 67th minute.

It has led to the former Arsenal skipper plotting a route out of the club.

But transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, tweeted on Wednesday: “Aubameyang can’t play for any other club than Barcelona & Chelsea due to FIFA rules. 100% confirmed.
“Been told Barça would love the idea to bring Auba back… but only if it’s 100% free transfer, different salary terms and only if Memphis Depay leaves (Atléti want him).” Sourced from Daily Post

BREAKING: Cristiano Ronaldo signs for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a two-year deal with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr after his contract at Manchester United was mutually terminated.

According to Sky Sports, Saudi state TV al-Ekhbariya is reporting the development on its website.

The contract is reported to be worth £172 million.

The 37-year-old left Manchester United last month on the eve of the World Cup.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville said the manner of Ronaldo’s exit was sad yet inevitable, and the time has come for both parties to move on.

“The only thing Manchester United could do was draw a line under the Ronaldo affair,” Neville told Sky Sports. “They couldn’t allow the situation to come to this side of the World Cup, it needed to be put to bed.

“They’ve handled it really quickly and the way it has ended is the best for both parties.

“It’s sad it’s ended this way but it was inevitable, it had to finish. He will go on and play football elsewhere and hopefully do really well, and Manchester United can move on under Erik ten Hag.”

BREAKING: Brazilian football legend Pele is dead

Brazilian football icon Pele, widely regarded as the greatest player of all time and a three-time World Cup winner who masterminded the “beautiful game,” has died at the age of 82, his family said Thursday.

“Everything we are is thanks to you. We love you infinitely. Rest in peace,” daughter Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram.

Named athlete of the century by the International Olympic Committee in 1999, Pele is the only footballer in history to win three World Cups — 1958, 1962 and 1970.

Nicknamed “O Rei” (The King), he scored more than 1,000 goals in one of the most storied careers in sport, before retiring in 1977.

He had been in increasingly fragile health, battling kidney problems and colon cancer — undergoing surgery for the latter in September 2021, followed by chemotherapy.

– ‘Samba football’ –

Born October 23, 1940, in the southeastern city of Tres Coracoes, Edson Arantes do Nascimento — Pele’s real name — grew up selling peanuts on the street to help his impoverished family get by.

His parents named him for famed American inventor Thomas Edison.

But he was soon given the nickname Pele, for his mispronunciation of Bile, the name of a goalkeeper at Vasco de Sao Lourenco, where his footballer father once played.

Pele dazzled from the age of 15, when he started playing professionally with Santos. He led the club to a flurry of titles, including back-to-back Intercontinental Cups, against Benfica in 1962 and AC Milan in 1963.

Known for his genius with the ball, he epitomized the sublime style of play called “samba football” in Brazil, where he was declared a “national treasure.”

He scored an all-time record 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches for Santos (1956-74), the Brazilian national team, and the New York Cosmos (1975-77).

But beyond his records, he will be remembered for revolutionizing the sport, his ever-present number 10 on his back.

The first global football star, he played a lead role in the game’s transformation into a sporting and commercial powerhouse, tapping his preternatural athleticism despite his relatively small size — 1.70 meters (just under five-foot-seven).

He also played with heart, visible in the iconic black-and-white footage of the 17-year-old phenom bursting into tears after helping Brazil to its first World Cup title, in 1958.

Eight years earlier, seeing his father cry when Brazil lost the 1950 World Cup final at home to Uruguay, he had promised to bring the trophy home one day.

– Sports royalty –

Pele reached the pinnacle of his greatness at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, the first broadcast in color, where he starred on what many consider the greatest team of all time, with talents such as Rivellino, Tostao and Jairzinho.

He was often welcomed like royalty when traveling abroad with Santos or the national team. Legend has it in 1969 his arrival in Nigeria was the occasion for a 48-hour truce in the bloody Biafra war.

Pele declined offers to play in Europe, but signed for a brief, lucrative swan song with the Cosmos at the end of his career, bringing his star power to the land of “soccer.”

His reign extended beyond the pitch, with gigs as a movie star, singer and later sports minister (1995-1998) — one of the first black cabinet members in Brazil.

But he faced criticism at times in Brazil for remaining quiet on social issues and racism, and for what some saw as his haughty, vain personality.

Unlike Argentine rebel Diego Maradona, his rival for the title of greatest of all time, Pele was seen as close to those in power — including Brazil’s 1964-1985 military regime.

– Final match –

Pele’s public appearances had grown increasingly rare, and he frequently used a walker or wheelchair.

He was hospitalized several times for urinary infections, then again in 2021 and 2022 for the colon cancer that marked the beginning of the end.

But he met his health problems with trademark humor.

“I will face this match with a smile on my face,” he posted on Instagram in September 2021, after surgery to remove his colon tumor.

He was deeply moved when Maradona, his longtime friend and rival, died of a heart attack in 2020 at age 60.

“The world has lost a legend,” he wrote.

“One day, I hope, we will play soccer together in the sky.”

World Cup: We’re also too old in attack – Belgium defender hits back at De Bruyne, Hazard

Belgium defender, Jan Vertonghen, has hit back at teammates Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard after their World Cup 2-0 loss to Morocco on Sunday.

Belgium defeated Morocco thanks to goals from Romain Saiss and Zakaria Aboukhlal.

Ahead of the clash, De Bruyne surprisingly claimed that Belgium’s golden generation is now too old to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, while Hazard insisted that Belgium’s defenders are not the fastest.

However, speaking at his post-match press conference after Belgium’s defeat to Morocco, Vertonghen shot back at his team’s attacking unit for creating too few chances, adding that they attack badly because they are also too old.

“I guess we attack badly because we’re also too old upfront. We didn’t create enough chances. We conceded the same goal twice at the near post,” Vertonghen said.

“It is very frustrating and things are not going the way we want at present, but we’ve the weapons to move and get something from the third game [against Croatia].”

PSG: Grow Up, You Take Things Personal – Arsenal Legend Tells Mbapp|Eagle’s Sight News

Arsenal legend, Emmanuel Petit, has urged Paris Saint-Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe, to grow up amid the controversies surrounding him at the French Ligue 1 champions this season.

Petit said Mbappe takes things personally all the time at PSG, adding that the France international needs to be calmer with his teammates.

Mbappe, 23, has struggled to stay away from controversies recently, particularly since he signed a new contract extension with PSG.

A lot has been said about Mbappe’s feud with his teammate Neymar in the media.

Mbappe also made headlines when he took aim at PSG manager Christophe Galtier after the team’s 0-0 draw against Stade Reims last weekend.

“In recent weeks, I find him [Mbappe] out of touch in his communication. I find that he is moving more and more from the central subject, which is the game and the pitch,” Petit said on RMC Sport.

“He is making it more and more personal. Of course, I hear rumours that promises have not been kept, but I want to tell him: ‘Kylian, grow up, that is life.”

He added, “It is the same every day. You are made promises that nobody keeps most of the time, does that mean you have to stop working and question everything? Of course not. That is what we call everyday life, the life of grown-ups, the life of adults.

“Kylian, the sooner you sort out your problems with yourself, the sooner your performances on the pitch will improve and your relations with the public and your teammates will be calmer.”Sourced from daily post

Transfer: Ronaldo’s Team-Mates ‘Celebrated’ After He Informed Man Utd He Wants To Leave

Cristiano Ronaldo’s team-mates at Manchester United celebrated when he informed the club he wants to leave this summer, ESPN reports.

With the transfer window set to close this Thursday, it is looking unlikely that the 37-year-old might get his wish.

Ronaldo’s 24 goals in all competitions last season was not enough to qualify United for the Champions League, a competition he desperately wants to continue playing in.

While fans are split on whether Ronaldo’s departure would be a positive thing for new manager Erik ten Hag, his team-mates appear to have made their minds up.

Majority of the squad reacted with joy when it emerged in July that the legendary No.7 wanted to leave, as he’d become a “pain in the a***.” daily Post reported.

Ten Hag has handed Ronaldo only one start this season and that was in the humiliating 4-0 drubbing at Brentford

Video: How Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan Won 100m Hurdles Gold After Breaking Record

Nigerian Tobi Amusan has won 100 metres hurdles gold at the World Championships in what was initially announced as a world record 12.06 seconds but later ruled ineligible as the wind speed exceeded the legal limit.

Amusan broke the world record earlier on Sunday by running 12.12 in the semi-final at Hayward Field.

Jamaican Britany Anderson took silver and Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn finished with bronze.

The final was without 2019 champion Nia Ali and medal contender Alaysha Johnson, both of the United States, after they hit hurdles and crashed out in the opening round.

Semi-final record

Earlier on Sunday, Amusan broken the women’s 100 metres hurdles world record in a stunning semi-final effort.

The record time of 12.12 seconds broke Kendra Harrison’s mark of 12.20, as the American finished second in the heat.

While most athletes aim to conserve their energy in the semi-final, the 25-year-old Amusan held nothing back at Hayward field, a day after she set the African record in the opening heats.

“It is a strong feeling. I wanted to get out and go,” she told reporters. “I did what I had to do. Looking forward to the finals.”

She shocked the crowd at Eugene in US state of Oregon, putting on the kind of superb performance usually reserved for prime time in the opening race of the Sunday evening schedule.

CLOSE-UP: Amusan, The ‘Accidental Hurdler’ Who Became Nigeria’s First World Record Holder In Athletics

After nine days 0f track and field events on the Hayward Field in Oregon, Nigeria was battling a drought of medals at the 2022 World Athletic Championship. Results were not going in tandem with the expectations and quality of talents of the Nigerian contingents. Several events completed, no podium finish and little excitement. But everything changed when Tobi Amusan lined up for the semi-final of the women’s 100 meters hurdles on the final day of the tournament.

With the wind to her spikes, she glided over all the 10 hurdles with swooshing ease to become the fastest female hurdler in the world. At 12.12 seconds, she buried US Kandra Harrison’s record of six years ago. And that was only the beginning of a night that an Ijebu Ode-born girl would chisel her name in gold on the summit of world athletics history.

Barely two hours later, she returned to the tracks and, with her braids behind her like a cape, blitzed to the finish line at an even faster 12.06 seconds — it was wind-aided and ineligible for a world record — to become the first Nigerian to win a gold medal at the World Athletic Championship.

But Amusan probably did not fully digest the magnitude of the feats she had spurned on the night until the patriotic tunes of Nigeria’s national anthem blazoned during the medal presentation. The 25-year-old’s face was wet with tears as she sang “the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain.”

Amusan suddenly realised she’s one of those “heroes” now.

Her name will be taught as a source of inspiration to millions of children. Her feat is an oasis for Nigerians inundated by the acridity of the country’s security challenges. Her reign as Nigeria’s “queen of the track” has begun.

,Amusan’s ascendancy into athletics royalty had been foreseen years prior, with different coaches marvelling at her lightning-quick box of talent. However, it has been a rugged climb to the top rather than a quick dash for the fast legs of the Nigerian.

Amusan was born 0n April 23, 1997, in Ijebu Ode, Ogun. She was born into a family with a sports background as her mother once played volleyball. Her track and field talent was discovered at the Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in her hometown.

She began considering the path of professional athletics when she represented Nigeria at the first edition of the African Youth Athletics Championship in 2013. At 16, she competed in the 200 meters sprint and won silver for the country.

Two years later, she was part of the contingent for the 2015 African Youth Athletics Championship and she won the gold medal with 14.26 seconds in the women’s 100 meters hurdles. It was a huge feat for the teenager but it would cost her a potential scholarship in the US.

“My school [University of Texas, El Paso] had been contacting me since 2014 before I went for the 2015 African Junior Championships. But there I ran above 14 seconds and they told me it wasn’t up to the standard for recruiting for the NCAAs Division 1 level,” she had said in one interview.

However, she funnelled her disappointment into a three-month training for the 2015 African Games in Brazzaville, Congo. She went into the competition ranked distant 10th. Amusan would then break the African U20 record twice as she ran 13.15 to win the gold medal in the women’s 100 meters hurdles. The school came calling again, this time with ferocity and desperation.

“You don’t even want to know about the phone calls [from UTEP]! They were killing me with calls! “Can you send this, can you send that?!” Amusan said.

Amusan’s sprint career did not start as a hurdler but fate and a blessing in disguise of disappointment sent her down that path.

Replaced as a member of the Nigerian 4x100m relay squad at the trials for the 2014 African Youth Games, a resilient Amusan enquired about other events she could participate in. The organisers suggested the 100 meters hurdles and with the top two automatically selected for a place in the Nigerian team for those games, Amusan figured she had nothing to lose.

“If it is run and jump, I thought I’ll do it. I had played around with hurdles in practice but I had never competed before,” she had said about the change.

She surprised herself and went on to earn silver at the African Youth Games in Botswana in only her second hurdles race.

From then onward, Amusan, like a butterfly reaching a full circulation of metamorphosis, soared above the hurdles and shatter records, and accrued medals.

In 2018, she became the first Nigerian female hurdler to win gold at the Commonwealth Games. She also won gold at the 2018 African Athletics Championship and 2019 All African Games.

Despite her dominance and consistency, Amusan hit the wrong side of luck in major championships between 2019 to 2021.

At the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, she finished fourth in the final of the women’s 100-meter hurdles with 12.49 seconds.

She also fell short in the final at the Toko Olympics when she dipped 12.60 seconds to place fourth in the race.

Amusan was apparently hurt after she was labelled the “almost girl” for all the near misses at the grand stages.

“I know a lot of people have tagged me the ‘almost’ girl. I’ve seen and heard a lot of comments,” she had said.

“It’s just sad knowing that I’m that girl that people tag ‘almost’ and that’s the main force that’s going to drive me next year. I don’t want to be the ‘almost’ girl. I want to be ‘that girl’, the girl that wins every competition.”

In 2021, at the Olympics trials of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) at the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, Amusan swooshed easily to the finish line in the women’s 100m hurdles — only to discover that the electronic timer at the stadium had failed to display the time at the end of the race, remaining at 0.00secs.

However, her hand timer recorded that she won the race by dipping 12.3 seconds, which would have erased Gloria Alozie African record of 12.44 seconds set in 1998.

Away from the disappointments of the months before, Amusan’s consistency and hard work paid off in September 2021.

She became the first Nigerian athlete ever to win a World Athletics Diamond League trophy as she placed first in the women’s 100 meters hurdles final.

Amusan clocked 12.42 seconds to break Alozie’s 23-year-old national record and become Africa’s fastest hurdler in the women’s category.

There was no stopping Amusan from there on as she continued to break and set a new African record thrice in a year.

On June 19, the Nigerian set a new African record in the women’s 100 meters hurdles as she dipped 12.41 seconds at the Diamond League meet in Paris.

On July 23, Amusan also set a new African record of 12.40 seconds when she won heat three in the women’s 100m hurdles.

She then reduced the time further in the semi-final to clinch the world record of 12.12 seconds

From sandy tracks of inter-house sports at Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Ijebu-Ode to the bouncy arena in Hayward Field in Oregon, an accidental hurdler has gone on to become Nigeria’s first-ever world record holder in athletics.

Amusan has also immortalised her name in the history of track and field events.Source cable

EPL: Ronaldo’s Eyes Exit Manchester United As Player Wage Cuts To…

EPL: Man Utd Reduce Ronaldo’s Salary To £360,000 As player Eyes Exit.

Manchester United’s reduction of players’ salaries, has emerged as one of the reasons Cristiano Ronaldo wants to leave the club.

United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League has triggered a 25% reduction in the squad’s salaries.

According to the Manchester Evening News, sources close to Ronaldo say it has “upset” the player.

Ronaldo agreed on a £480,000-a-week deal when he returned to Old Trafford.

However, the cut means his basic weekly wage for next season is now £360,000.

The 37-year-old was the only international not to report back for pre-season at United’s Carrington training complex on Monday and Tuesday due to “family reasons”.

Cristiano Ronaldo To Chelsea Transfer: Todd Boehly Meeting, Man Utd Stance, Joao Felix…[Eagle’s Sight…]

Cristiano Ronaldo To Chelsea Transfer: Todd Boehly Meeting, Man Utd Stance, Joao Felix Advantage

Chelsea transfer news: The Blues have been linked to a sensational swoop for Cristiano Ronaldo – a player regarded by many as one of the greatest of all time

A phrase which not many Blues fans would have expected to see in this summer’s transfer window. But in Todd Boehly’s hunt to sign at least one or two marquee signings this summer in this £200million squad rebuild, the American is pulling out all the stops to ensure that manager Thomas Tuchel is going to be equipped in the best way for next season.

Manchester United’s inactivity in this transfer window so far has caused the 37-year-old, just like the fans, to grow ever-frustrated with an ownership set up who have just taken out another £11million in dividends. Consequently, Jorge Mendes has already offered United’s iconic No. 7 to Bayern Munich this summer. The Bundesliga champions rejected the opportunity to bring in the Portuguese to replace the Barcelona bound Robert Lewandowski due to having already signed Sadio Mané from Liverpool.

But now Chelsea could step in and brings you all the latest you need to know on this particular transfer and the implications surrounding the whole situation.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is said to have met Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes to discuss a potential transfer swoop for the Portuguese star as he grows disgruntled at the lack of business Manchester United have done so far this summer.

With 12 months left on his contract and not knowing how long he has left at the top level, the potential of a transfer exit this summer, one year after returning to United is on the cards with Bayern Munich already turning down this idea. Step up, Chelsea. And The Athletic have reported that new owner Boehly has met with Ronaldo’s agent Mendes in Portugal last week to discuss a number of topics. CR7’s future was one of the things discussed in this encounter.

Whether or not Chelsea make a move for the player in question remains to be seen.h

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has already indirectly rubbished any chances of moving to Chelsea by admitting that he is ”happy’ to be where he is right now in the Premier League amid speculation that the forward is beginning to become frustrated with the transfer activity of the Red Devils.

It is understood that Man City’s Raheem Sterling is the main attacking priority being pursued at this current moment by Chelsea but when the prospect of Ronaldo comes on the table, that plan can easily change. Multiple attackers are expected to be signed this summer to compensate for potential Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech exits amid AC Milan and Juventus talks but will the 37-year-old really be one of those brought in?

Well, based on the words of the man himself, he has admitted that he is ‘happy’ where he is to rubbish any potential Chelsea transfer talk, as the 37-year-old has also looked forward to life under ten Hag next season. “I was and still am very happy to be here,” he said in a recent interview. “I know (ten Hag) did a fantastic job for Ajax and that he’s an experienced coach but we need to give him time and things need to change the way he wants.

“I hope we have success. I wish him the best. We are happy and excited. Let’s believe that next year we are going to win trophies. I believe that Manchester [United] will be where they belong. Sometimes it takes time, but I still believe.”

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has already labelled Man United’s Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘one of the greatest’ players of all time amid shock transfer talks between new owner Todd Boehly and Jorge Mendes.

Just like he said with Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar in the past, the German, who had to see Ronaldo score against his side in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford last term, went on record to declare that he believes Ronaldo to be one of the ‘greatest’ players to have stepped foot on the football pitch. “Time will tell, but I think it is not a secret that any team in the world without Cristiano [Ronaldo] is in some parts of the game a weaker team,” he was quoted saying in the past via The Daily Express. “He is one of the greatest who has ever played this game and he proves it every time he is on the field.

“Now [he is] in the Premier League and in the Champions League, so they lost a big champion, a big point of reference and a big personality. But you can win games and be a strong team without Cristiano Ronaldo. This is also true.”

Man United’s and Erik ten Hag’s stance on Ronaldo

Although Man United’s owners may view the prospect of cashing in on a player who is earning around £ 480,000 a week as an enticing one, new manager ten Hag has already made solid plans to have the Portuguese international as one of the big players he relies upon next season.

There is even talk that Steve McClaren’s former assistant could even strip Harry Maguire of the captaincy in order to hand Ronaldo more responsibility as United face a big season to even achieve top four. Whatever happens with the captaincy remains to be seen.

Speaking after his final game in charge of Ajax last month, Ten Hag said via The Manchester Evening News: “From tomorrow (Monday), my focus will be on United, and I will of course get deep into things there. What I have to say about it is, the detailed analysis still has to begin, I still have to work with the team, but let me be clear that at United there are a lot of good players around. We have to make them function as a team but definitely Ronaldo, he is a giant.”

In another interview with De Telegraaf, Ten Hag added: “Ronaldo is a giant, because of what he’s already shown and I think he’s still very ambitious. Of course I would like to keep him. He’s been very important to Manchester United this year and can produce great statistics.”

Joao Felix advantage

The Telegraph are reporting that Ronaldo to Chelsea is ‘highly unlikely’ to happen this summer. Interestingly enough though, they did confirm that Boehly did enquire about a few of Mendes’ other clients in his meeting in Portugal.

The likes of Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Wolves’ Rayan Aït-Nouri are just a few clients of the super agent. Felix, in particular, is a reported Spurs target, so have Chelsea suddenly gained the advantage on the Lilywhites in the transfer race through this meeting.Sourced from

According to PoinBlankNews , Boehly’s ownership group, which includes Hansjorg Wyss, Mark Walker and investment firm Clearlake Capital, have struck an agreement worth around £4.25billion to buy the Premier League club.

The UK government and Premier League still need to give their approval before the sale is completed.

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has claimed Marcelo Bielsa would have won more titles than him had he been in charge of Barcelona.

Guardiola also admitted he would have struggled to transform Leeds United’s fortunes the way Bielsa did.

Bielsa was sacked by Leeds this season, as the Whites battled relegation from the Premier League.

Guardiola is still full of admiration for a man that mentored him and told Telemundo Sports: “Give him my Barcelona and you will see how he will win titles.

“Give me Leeds, with all due respect to the Leeds players, but I would still be in the Championship.”

Bielsa is believed to have persuaded Guardiola to take up coaching and the pair then faced off in the 2012 Copa del Rey final, when Guardiola’s Blaugrana beat the former’s Athletic Club to the title.

The unveiling of the list comes after mixed reactions trailed the delay, with some Ghanians suggesting it was part of their tactics to keep the technical team of the Super Eagles in the dark, and to hopefully spring a surprise on matchday.

However, the unveiling of the list has now put to bed that assumption.

Notable absentee on the list is Captain Andre Ayew who is serving a suspension from this year’s AFCON. He got red carded in the last group game where they lost to debutants Comoros
