Highlife Icon Mike Ejeagha Passes Away at 95
Eagles Sight News reports that veteran highlife musician Mike Ejeagha, celebrated for blending Igbo proverbs and folklore into timeless music, has died at the age of 95.
The music legend passed away around 8 p.m. on Friday at the 32 Garrison Hospital in Enugu after battling a long-term illness.
His first son, Emma Ejeagha, confirmed the passing during a phone interview with Vanguard.
Mike Ejeagha was a prominent figure in Nigeria’s music scene, especially in the 1980s, when his distinctive Igbo folk style captivated audiences across all age groups.
