Four Persons Burnt To Death As Commercial Bus Cartwheels, Goes Up In Flames

At least not less than Four persons have been reported burnt dead beyond recognition when a commercial bus caught fire at the Fidiwo axis of the Lagos-Ibadan highway, Ogun State.

Reports gathered reveals that the bus had a tyre burst, lost control; and suddenly cartwheeled and eventually went up in flames.

The pathetic accident was said to involved 18 men, 13 of whom were reportedly injured.

The accident was confirmed from Ogun FRSC Spokeperson Mrs Florence Okpe .

Mrs Okpe speaking with journalists after this incident said the crash occurred at about 2:25pm around Ogunmakin.

Speaking further, she said “Four deaths were recorded from the road traffic crash,” adding that the dead victims were “burnt beyond recognition.”

It is so pathetic that the registration number of the Toyota Hiace bus was also burnt and could not be read.

“The suspected causes of the crash were speed, tyre burst and loss of control. The vehicle somersaulted and went into flame.

“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere and some to Ider Hospital, Sagamu,” she added.

However, the family of the victims have been commiserated by the FRSC.

The Federal Road Safety Commission then gave piece of advice to motorists to always check their tyres and avoid speed violations.
