DANGOTE REFINERY ENGULFED IN FLAMES: Effluent Plant Goes Up in Smoke

Lagos -Eaglessightnews reports that in a shocking turn of events a fire outbreak occurred at the Dangote Refinery’s effluent plant in the early hours of June 26, 2024.

The incident caused a significant amount of damage to the plant, but fortunately, no casualties were reported.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 2:00 AM and was quickly contained by the refinery’s fire department. The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.

The Dangote Refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, is one of the largest refineries in Africa and has a capacity to process 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

This incident comes at a time when Nigeria is facing a fuel scarcity crisis, and the refinery is expected to play a key role in addressing the crisis.

In a viral video , the sound of an explosion could also be heard .

However, when contacted, the Group Chief Branding & Communications Officer, Dangote Industries Limited, Anthony Chiejina, confirmed the fire incident to punch.

He said the company had contained the minor fire at its effluent treatment plant that broke out in the early hours of Wednesday.

“We have swiftly contained a minor fire incident at our effluent treatment plant (ETP), today Wednesday 26th of June,” he said.

Chiejina also stressed that the refinery is still operating and no injury or body harm is recorded.

“There is no cause for alarm as the refinery is operating and there is no recorded injury or body harm to all our staff on duty,” he added.
