Oyo Govt, Christian Mission Offer Free Hydrocele Surgery to 100 Indigent Patients
The Oyo State Government through the Primary Health Care Board, in partnership with the Christian Blind Mission (CBM) has commenced surgical intervention for 100 indigent patients with Hydrocele and Lymphedema Management across thirty-three local government areas of Oyo State.
While Speaking on Sunday, at Oke-Are Primary Health Care Center, Ibadan, venue of the surgery, the Executive Secretary, Oyo State, Primary Health Care Board, Dr. Muideen Olatunji disclosed that the programme was targeted at indigent patients who cannot afford the operation in any Private Hospital.
According to him, “the board in conjunction with Christian Blind Mission (CBM) is offering free Surgical intervention on Hydroceles and Lymphedema Management for close to 90 to 100 indigent patients across 33 local government areas of the state.”
“We have one of our programme interventions that we refer to as Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and there are many diseases under the NTDs, one of them is this hydrocele and many people tend to have these health issues. The health issue tends to cause embarrassment to whoever has it, so CBM is supporting us to operate on most of these people that may have financial challenges”, he said.
“We are conducting this programme in 33 local government areas of the state and we have mobilized people through our local NTDs coordinators to search for those who may have features, to enlist them and bring them to this facility to be operated free of charge”.
“Today, we operated more than ten, and we wish to go further and continue with the programme, using this place as the central point that patients will be coming. In fact, there is a commission for them, when they come, like the cost of transport back home will be taken care of because we understand that they are not financially buoyant.
He said the gesture by the partners and the Oyo State Government is to support them, urging them to visit Oyo state primary health facilities for follow ups.
“You know the government has already renovated and upgraded most of these facilities”, he said
“The turnout is so impressive, and we are still expecting some that have these kinds of diseases”.
Earlier in his speech, the Project Director, Christian Blind Mission (CBM) Enan Williams Adamani, who spoke through the Project Manager, Elizabeth Ezeobele, explained that the organization is in partnership with the Oyo state government to conduct lymphatic Filariasis morbidity and management disability prevention for residents of the state.
He maintained that the Oyo state government through the Primary Health Care Board focused on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs).
He commended the Oyo state government and its officials for the support they have shown towards the success of the programme.
While speaking on behalf of his son, who was among the beneficiaries, Mr. Sheriff Adeyemo, applauded the governor of the state for the gesture.
He also thanked the partner and medical team for prompt and qualitative health care given to his son at no cost.
PASTOR WF KUMUYI:How Apostolic Faith Official Converted me
There has been excitement among members and followers of the Deeper Life Christian Ministry after the General Superintendent of the church, Pastor William Kumuyi, revealed a former official of The Apostolic Faith, Pa Elijah Dosunmu, who led him to Christ.
Dosunmu is 83-year-old and lives in Lagos State, where he runs a school.
Kumuyi narrated his encounter with the octogenarian last Sunday during a private commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the church with some leaders at Gbagada, Lagos State.
The revered holiness preacher recalled how Dosunmu invited him to The Apostolic Faith and he (Kumuyi) gave a condition that Dosunmu must also attend his church, the Cherubim and Seraphim, where he was a drummer.
Kumuyi said after his guest attended the C&S church, he (Kumuyi) asked him to share his thoughts on the service and he simply replied “active”.
“He didn’t say, ‘It was bad, calling the name of angels.’ He just said, ‘active’. He is a good man.
“So, I accepted to go with him to the gospel church. But it was too quiet. People just sat down, they sang and they stood up, there was no dancing, gymnastics, nothing!
“And so, when we came out, he also asked me, ‘How was it?’ I did not have the wisdom they had or anything. But I said, ‘It was too quiet, like somebody in a cemetery, no dancing. I miss the dancing in my church.’
“So, eventually, he invited me again and I kept on going and I began to see the light and on the 5th of April 1964, I went to the altar, surrendered my life to the Lord and became born again.
“And he kept on doing the follow up and teaching me gospel songs, with another friend. Both of them were responsible for making me switch over completely and eventually I became saved, sanctified and baptised in the Holy Ghost. He was a great encouragement to me; that’s why I said I should call him out and show his face to you that this is the man, the brother, the minister that God used for me,” he added.
The cleric, while commending Dosunmu, who also sheltered him at different times, said after he (Kumuyi) started evangelising, he attracted the wrath of the leadership of The Apostolic Faith.
He said, “When I was excommunicated for evangelism, he was a worker in the Apostolic Faith and he had to make a choice, where will he stay, what will he do?”
“Instead of staying there, where he had a good position, good connection, the people from the leadership to membership knew him, he chose to say he would not leave me alone; he would go with me, excommunication or no excommunication, that he would be with me. I respect his commitment and his contribution to my life as I was growing up.”
Kumuyi expressed joy that both of them were still alive to witness the golden jubilee of Deeper Life and prayed that God would reward dosunmu.
“I did not know all of those gospel songs, but now, all the songs that I know, I learnt through him,” he added.
Dosunmu became one of the 15 people that started Deeper Life at the Flat 2 apartment of Kumuyi at the University of Lagos, Akoka.
He also became the first choir master of the church, which started in 1973.

A New Church Called Ogbanje Church of All Nations has been opened in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Members of the congregation had their first worship service at the church, where they sang and danced to a compilation of songs eulogising the names of some popular river goddesses in Nnewi.
Video:Ogbanje Church Of All Nation Opens In Anambra
This was corroborated by a video currently trending in social media, showing members of the church as they rejoiced and danced to the tune of songs composed in praise of goddesses of some popular rivers in Nnewi.
While addressing the congregation at the uncompleted building, the cleric, presiding over the service, advised the congregation to worship what they know, rather than what they don’t know.
The clergyman, who did not mention his name, spoke in Igbo and said people had used the names of Bethsaida, Jericho, Samaria, and some other biblical locations to compose songs without knowing the meaning of those locations.
Supported by echoes of joy and commendations from the congregation, the cleric who did not mention his name, thereafter began singing a praise song in reverence to the Ogbanje, while the church members cheerfully dance around in joy.
He said, “People usually sing and dance to songs composed with names and places in the Bible while they do not actually know who, what, or where they are and what they represent. It is high time we started going back to our culture and tradition.
“People should start singing songs composed with names of rivers that are known to them and the goddesses of those rivers, rather than singing and dancing to the names of what they don’t know.”
Together with the congregation, he mentioned some names of rivers and some river goddesses in the area including Obò River, Mmiri Ele, Orasò River, Mmiri Edo, Ofala River, Ota, and Ezu River, among others.
While proudly identifying as an Ogbanje, the cleric claimed that he and other people who were Ogbanje “usually shine, prosper and live fine from year to year because they worship the rivers and the goddesses of the rivers they know, rather than those unknown to them”.
Hajj 2023: Fear Grips Oyo Pilgrims As Return Plans Run Into Hitch
There are palpable fear and despondency among pilgrims from Oyo State following the uncertainty about their return to Nigeria.
About two weeks after the end of Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia, over 1,000 pilgrims from Oyo State are yet to know the date of their departure.
Information gathered from the camp of the pilgrims revealed that plans to take them back to the country have run into a hitch.
According to the Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board Professor Sayed Malik, efforts of his Board officials to ensure the timely return of the pilgrims were obstructed by logistic problems.
“We planned to take our pilgrims back to Nigeria immediately after their return to Makkah from Mina. But NAHCON and the airline contracted to convey us, Aero Contractors were not responding to our demands. Later we were told by NAHCON that the airline was denied landing permit in Jeddah”, Professor Malik explained.
In a report sighted from Mouthpiecengr the Chairman of the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, said the issue was later resolved and the airline ferried Nasarawa pilgrims back to Nigeria. And it was scheduled that Oyo state pilgrims would be transported back to Nigeria in batches as from July 10.
But things took a dramatic turn as the airline officials refused to transport the pilgrims as earlier agreed.
“We were surprised that there was no communication from the airline and NAHCON officials on July 10 about our departure and our pilgrims waited in vain at their hotels for the officials who didn’t show up. We later learned that the Aero Contractors aircraft which transported the first batch of Nasarawa pilgrims to Nigeria has remained grounded at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja because the airline failed to secure permit to land in Jeddah from Saudi aviation authorities”, Professor Malik disclosed.
It was gathered that Aero Contractors was imposed on the four states by NAHCON as against the usual practice where the State Boards were at liberty to choose their preferred airlines out of the approved ones.
A former Secretary of the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board who once served in the Aviation Committee of NAHCON, Alhaji Sakariyau Kunle Sanni expressed reservations at the turn of events. He advised that states should be allowed to have a say in the selection of airlines to airlift their pilgrims.
As at the time of gathering this report, pilgrims from Oyo State and their counterparts from Nasarawa as well as those from Taraba and Adamawa states are left stranded in Makkah as NAHCON seems to have abandoned them to their fate.
The pilgrims from the four affected states have no clue about when they will depart the holy lands, more than ten days after completing Hajj exercise.
Many of the affected pilgrims blamed their travails on the inefficiency of the body empowered to coordinate hajj operations in Nigeria, NAHCON.
Another affected pilgrim who is an Ibadan based broadcaster, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat stated that NAHCON has taken more responsibilities than it could shoulder.
“We are in this unfortunate situation because NAHCON was overwhelmed by the enormous responsibilities it was saddled with. Something has to be done”, Alhaji Hamzat stated.
Meanwhile the Amir Hajj who is also the State Deputy Governor Alhaji Bayo Lawal has directed the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare to take necessary steps on the matter and come with a workable solution which the state government would cue into.
In the meantime, officials of the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board are working with their counterparts from other affected states – Nasarawa, Adamawa and Taraba to secure the services of alternative airlines to convey their pilgrims back to Nigeria.

Hajj:”I’m Vindicated …” Adanla Reacts As Odidi-Omo Finally Visits Oyo State Pilgrims, Splashes 5m •••Insists On Apology
….commends Odidi-Omo for retracing steps
…insists on apology from group
The Turaki Adini of Oyo State Engr Abduljelyi Karheem Mogaji Adanla has smiled at the recent move of Hon Stanley Odidi-Omo a PDP member of the House of Representatives for finally retracing his steps by visiting the Oyo State Pilgrims in their hotel.
The Ibadan Chief, Adanla speaking to Eaglessightnews from Saudi Arabia on Saturday explained that he has no grudges with Odidi-Omo as he was not the only dignitary/office holder present in Medina but rather called out others too in love.
It would be recalled that the Muslim leader, Adanla earlier on Friday 30th June commended Makinde’s administration for providing good treatment for the Oyo State Pilgrims and also hailed Makinde’s Deputy Bayo Lawal, Former first lady of Oyo State Governor, Mutiat Ladoja, Sunmonu, and others for their show of support to the over 1400 pilgrims from Oyo state at the ongoing Hajj. However, Adanla also frowned at some political officeholders, who are supposed to reciprocate this kind gesture but felt more magniloquent and not showing the expected support as members of the same Muslim community for the Oyo pilgrims in Mecca.
In a recent reaction by the renowned Ibadan Chief , forwarded to newsmen , Adanla, commended Honourable Stanley Odidi-Omo on his repentance step and appreciated those who stood by him to make the truth known. He however, insisted on a deserving apology from the sponsored group who identified themselves as Islamic Group, Oneness, Truth and Unity(OTU) over the earlier bizarre statement published on Friday 30th June 2023 tarnishing his image.
In a full statement forwarded to Journalists on Saturday 1st of July, Mogaji Adanla writes:
“Alhamdulilahi I am vindicated!I thank God that vindicates me after the news spreading online suggested, odidi omo finally visited over 1400 Pilgrims from Oyo state and donated 5m to ease their suffering. I’m happy that my egbon the member representing Ibadan Southwest and Northwest finally listened to my innocent advice to emulate the deputy governor of Oyo state Barrister Bayo Lawal, the former First Lady of oyo state Alhaja Monsurat Sunmonu and others who stick to the over 1400 people from oyo state and see their welfare as a priority.
“I have no problem neither do I have grudges with the House of representative, Hon Stanley Odidi-Omo as he is not the only political office holder here in Saudi that fails to show love to the pilgrims, I was only surprised how some people loyal to him took and resulted in blackmailing me but at last God wins.
“I thanked family friends and well-wishers who stood with me during the 72 hours and made it clear.
” I equally call on the Islamic group to apologize or face legal action as I no longer accept people assassinating my character. I would want this to send a signal to others that may want to embark on such in the future.”

Your Sponsored Statement Can’t Stopped Me From Saying The Truth- Adanla Replies Critic By Evidence, Demands Apology
Turaki Adini of Oyo state,Engr Abduljelyi Karheem,Mogaji Adanla has asked for an apology from a group of critics who claimed to be Islamic Group, Oneness, Truth and Unity(OTU) over the bizarre statement tarnishing his image on Friday.
The renowned Ibadan Chief, Adanla in a statement personally made available to Eaglessightnews stressed that if apology is not tendered over the recent blackmail and defamation of character, he will take legal action against the critics and their sponsor.
The elder Statesman and Muslim leader, Adanla who had earlier on Friday applauded Makinde’s Government, Makinde’s Deputy Lawal, Alh Sunmonu, Ladoja, and others for demonstrating the ethos of Yoruba culture and omoluabi revealed that the Islamic Group were sponsored by a PDP Member of House of Representatives who supposed to adhere to the truth but rather engaged in the sponsoring of critics to tarnish his image.
Adanla while reacting to the critics over the recent publication going viral calling him a ‘Glutton’ and that he is sponsored on a free ticket to Saudi Arabia also provided pieces of evidence of his payments and others sponsored by his kind gesture to Mecca.
Adanla further stated that he has not in any way discredited Makinde’s administration but some persons who feel more magniloquent than the government and other fellows and not wanting to adhere to the truth which is even against Islam have engaged in sponsoring mischievous and bizarre publications.
The Ibadan Chief Adanla, reiterated that his earlier commendation of the deputy governor, former First Lady Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu is not to winchunt or bring down anyone.
According to a statement made available to newsmen, Adanla writes
“I am not ready to engage the unknown group who claimed to be an Islamic Group, but rather make it clear that I did not travel on a free ticket but paid 6.2m for myself and my wife, also paid for some people I choose not to mention their names. the publication is not targeted at your sponsor as he is not the only political office holder here.
“This unknown blackmailer who claimed to be an Islamic group was sponsored by a PDP Member of the House of Representatives.
“Kindly note that my commendation of the deputy governor, former First Lady Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu is not to winchunt anyone but was surprised the PDP house rep member results in blackmail rather than doing the needful, is he better than others? Information at my disposal suggests there is a serving Senator here and others.
“Instead of him to do the needful he engages an unknown group to try to bring my personality down, I can not be stopped from saying the truth”
Adanla however, restated that their mischievous and fraudulent contents can never bring him down as he is a man already built by Allah.
A renowned Ibadan chief and Islamic leader in Ibadanland, Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem Mogaji Adanla the Turaki Adini of Oyo state has hailed the deputy governor, Barrister Adebayo Abdulroheem Lawal over his exemplary conduct in Saudi Arabia at ongoing 2023 Hajj.
He equally praised former First Lady of Oyo state, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja, former Speaker of the state, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, former commissners for budget and Health, Professor Musibaudeen Babatunde and Dr Bashir Bello as well as renowned Islamic cleric, Professor K. K. Oloso for fully identifying with Oyo state pilgrims in Mecca by staying in the same hotel and tents despite having all the resources to access 5-Star Hotels.
Adanla in a statement on Friday forwarded to journalists a copy made available to Eaglessightnews in Ibadan from Saudi Arabia recalled some of his experiences in the holy land at the ongoing pilgrimage saying Governor Seyi Makinde’s deputy as well as Alhaja Ladoja and Senator Sunmonu have all demonstrated the ethos of Yoruba’s ‘Omoluabi’.
He explained that Barrister Lawal refused to detach or dissociate himself from Oyo state pilgrims throughout the Hajj and even went further to stay with them under the scorching sun stressing that it was the height of humility which readily brought sense of belonging to all Oyo state pilgrims regardless of social or economic status.
Adanla writes, “The deputy governor of oyo state, barrister Bayo Lawal, once again demostrated and testified to the commitment made by governor Seyi Makinde by duly reciprocating the love the Muslim community has for him during the holy pilgrimage. This was despite calls from some selfish politicians and Muslims not to vote the ‘SeyiBayo’ mandate.
“During this ongoing prigimage in Saudi Arabia, the deputy governor did not show class or detached himself from the over 1400 pilgims from Oyo State, he instead, chose to stay in the same hotel and tents like every other pilgrims, this is a show of love, affection, and humility which gave everyone a sence of belonging as also exemplified by Engr Seyi Makinde.”
Mogaji Adanla however, bemoaned the behavior of some political office holders who on the contrary, dissociated themselves and ignored the over 1400 pilgrims in Mecca despite being members of the same Muslim community.
“To my greatest surprise, some political office holders are in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and chose to ignore the over 1400 prigims. As the Turaki adini of oyo state, I find this highly unacceptable and use this opportunity to advise them to quickly retrace their footsteps as its never too late.
“I want them to borrow a leaf from the likes of the former first Lady, Alhaja Mutiat Olayinka ladoja and the former speaker of oyo state house of assembly Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, who also chose to stay and feel the same pain with Oyo state pilgrims despite having financial muscles to stay in 5 star hotels.” Mogaji Adanla said.
Some of the political office holders currently on the holy pilgrimage according to the Turaki Adini of Oyo state include a Senator, House of Representatives members, Local Government chairpersons and other notable persons.
“The Muslims in oyo state deserve better treatment than this from these political office holders .I still see no reason why they couldn’t come to check the welfare of their people, these people are not poor to be able to pay over 3m each but no support is too much. If you think you may need our votes in the future, kindly treat us better.” Mogaji Adanla added.

Adeboye: Be Ready to Take Disrespect If You Tell Us That 2023 Election Was The Will Of God – Aisha Yesufu
Recall that Adeboye had said that Nigeria would prosper under the incoming administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Popular Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has said anyone who comes out to say that the result of the 2023 election is the will of God should be ready to be disrespected.
This followed verbal attacks on the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye after he asked Nigerians to support President-elect, Bola Tinubu because God will use him to fix the country.
He said: “Let us pray for the incoming government that God will support it and give it the Grace to do the right tthingThank God the president-elect has promised to fix Nigeria. If God helps him, Nigeria will prosper in his hands.”
Reacting to the attacks on Adeboye, Yesufu wrote, “Anyone who comes out to tell Nigerians that they should take the 2023 election as the will of God should also be ready to take the ‘disrespect’ (as they call it) as also the will of God.”
It is exactly one year ago, on May 12, 2022, when Deborah Emmanuel, a female student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State was murdered by Islamic extremists over blasphemy allegations against Prophet Mohammed.
The 200-level student was set ablaze after she reportedly advised her classmates against posting religious contents on their WhatsApp group which was created for academic purposes.
A motion picture of the student being stoned and beaten with sticks by her Muslim school-mates before setting her ablaze, was shared widely on all social media platforms.
A few days after the unfortunate incident that relatively set the country on fire, the Sokoto State Police Command announced the arrest of two suspects in connection to Deborah’s murder.
The suspected murderers, Bilyaminu Aliyu and Aminu Hukunci were on May 16 docked at a Sokoto Chief Magistrate’s Court for their alleged participation in the crime.

A total number of thirty-four lawyers led by Professor Mansur Ibrahim, allegedly sponsored by some public figures, stormed the court to defend the suspected killers.
DAILY POST recalls that the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, in a statement on August 28, revealed that those arrested were not the prime suspects, saying that they were only among those who organised the riot.
However, one year after the incident, the prime suspect who was boasting in the video of how he led the mob to lynch the innocent girl, is still at large.
Nigerian Catholic Priest Demands Where About
A Catholic Priest, Fr Kelvin Ugwu in a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday, asked the state governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, President Muhammadu Buhari and the Nigeria Police Force to tell Nigerians what happened to the suspects.
He wrote, “I am asking the Governor of Sokoto, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, please sir, where are the killers of Deborah? Have you found them? Where did you keep them? What did you do to them?
I am asking President Muhammadu Buhari, where are the killers? Are they invisible? Have they been arrested?
“And to the Nigeria Police Force, what has happened to the swiftness you normally employ in arresting people who make posts on social media you consider inciting and divisive? What did you do to the killers of Ms Deborah? Where are the killers?”
This is coming amid allegations that even the two suspects who were in May 2022, remanded in the Sokoto Correctional Centre may have been freed.
An On Air Personality, Mr Joseph Adejor also told our correspondent yesterday that “there may be something fishy about how the case died silently.”

“The question is, have they been able to arrest the prime suspect? After the incident, there were reports that the murderer fled to Niger Republic, have they traced him to that country?
“Like my friend always says, Nigeria is just a joke. A human being was burnt to death and nothing happened to the suspects. You remember how a popular politician condemned the incident and later deleted the post. I doubt if those two suspects that they managed to arrest were not freed later”, he lamented.
However, the Spokesperson of the Sokoto Police Command, DSP Sanusi Abubakar told DAILY POST on Thursday that the command had played its part by charging the suspects to court.
He said, “The police as an institution, when we charge a case to the court, it is left for the judge to determine
whether the suspect is found guilty or not.
“Our duty as police agency is to conduct investigation, and charge the suspect to court. It is now in the hands of the court to determine the end.

“We as a police, we have played our part. It is now left for the judiciary to do the necessary”.
Asked to clarify the allegations that some of the suspects were freed, the PPRO said,
“If there is any allegation that the suspects have been freed, I think only the judiciary is in the position to answer that”.
Reno Omokri calls out Obi as Obidients attack Pastor Adeboye online
A public affairs commentator, Reno Omokri, has called out the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, accusing him of failure to call his followers, known as Obidients, to order.
Omokri said Obi’s supporters have insulted all Nigerian icons, including the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
DAILY POST reported earlier that Pastor Adeboye had on Sunday expressed optimism that the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, would fix Nigeria with the help of God.
Adeboye, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Pastor Dele Balogun, spoke at the monthly Thanksgiving service at the RCCG Headquarters in Ebute-Metta.
But, Obi’s supporters felt offended by the statement credited to Adeboye, calling him names on various social media platforms.
It could be recalled that Adeboye was dragged by Obi followers in the build-up to the election when they accused him of refusing to declare open support for the former Anambra Governor.
Many of them were of the belief that the Christian leader might be surreptitiously supporting Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket because the incoming First Lady is a pastor in his church.
In a post on his social media handles on Tuesday, Omokri said Obi’s supporters insulted Adeboye; the Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
“In Christianity, the most respected Nigerian is Pastor Adeboye. You may not like that it is a fact, but it is true. So respected is he that he was called ‘Daddy Adeboye’ by a British Prime Minister (David Cameron). In Islam, the most revered living Nigerian is Sarkin Musulumi, His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, Sultan of Sokoto. So revered is he that Nigerian Presidents even bow to him.

“In academics, the most respected Nigerian national is Professor Wole Soyinka. The first Black African to have won a Nobel Prize in an academic category. So honoured is he that a former US President (Jimmy Carter) personally took his Green Card to him without him even applying for one.“Each of these three national icons has been insulted publicly and carelessly by Obidients,” Omokri stated.
He expressed sadness that Obi was afraid to publicly call his supporters to order, saying he preferred meeting the insulted leaders privately to say one thing indoors and another thing outside.
“Sadly, their leader is afraid of publicly calling them to order. And instead prefers to go privately to see people they insult to say one thing in private and then another in public.”
Omokri recalled his written exchanges with Peter Obi, saying the LP man “told me that the people insulting me were not Obidients but All Progressives Congress supporters pretending to be Obidients. How he felt I would be foolish enough to believe that beats my imagination.
”He lamented that the Obidients have forgotten history and are “making offensive images, songs, skits, and remarks against Pastor Adeboye, who has millions of loyal followers in Nigeria.”
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has acknowledged the private conversation between him and the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, took place.
The former Anambra governor, however, debunked describing the presidential election as a ‘religious war.’
Obi made the admission when he was featured on Arise Television as a guest on Monday night.
When asked if the phone conversation actually took place or if another propaganda aided by artificial intelligence, the politician admitted consulting with the fiery preacher but did not at any poll referred to the poll as a religious war.
He also described himself as the only non-Muslim governor, aside from erecting mosques, who has sent more people for pilgrimage in Mecca than other state leaders. Continue reading on Punch, follow the link;
A Lagos-based cleric accused of raping his members, Bishop Oluwafeyiropo Daniel, of I Reign Christian Ministry, Lekki, has yet to meet his bail conditions.
By Sunday (today), he would have spent one week in detention after he was remanded by Justice Ramon Oshodi of the Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja.
The pastor was supposed to appear before the court on Monday, April 3, when the case came up for arraignment, but he was absent.
The police prosecutor, Mrs Inumidun Solarin, said the Investigating Police Officer, ASP Yemi Temenu, informed her that Daniel was not found at the address he left at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, before he was granted administrative bail.

Eid-el Fitr: Let’s Be More United Against Those Weaponizing Religion To Divide Us–Makinde’s Aide, Wale Ajani Tells Muslims
The Director Genreal, Oyo state Liaison Office in Abuja and Lagos, Wale Ajani has felicitated with Muslim faithful across the state on the occasion of the 2023 Eid-el Fitr celebration.
The Ona-Ara born governor’s aide urges Muslims to reflect deeply on the teachings of Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) as entrenched in the holy Quran especially in relation to religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
In an Eid-el Fitr felicitation message by Ajani on Friday morning which was obtained by our correspondent, the pioneer president of the National Youths Council (NYC) disclosed that the youths remain the future of Nigeria regardless of the political dynamics in the country which still militate against them taking their rightful place.
He notes that if over 70 percent of the nation’s youthful population would stop yielding to those who always sought to use religion as a divisive political tool for pecuniary gains, Nigeria’s political challenges would have been half solved.
He explained that the way and manner Muslim faithful conducted themselves throughout the holy month of Ramadan was commendable especially in showing love, compassion and empathy to one another regardless of religious affiliations clearly gives the understanding that the nation understands and knows what is right.
He however, appealed to Muslim across the state and the nation to not allow the lessons of Ramadan to vanish after the Salah celebration stressing the need for sustained peaceful coexistence among all religious faiths in the society as it forms the bedrock upon which real development can be attained.
“My hearty felicitation is to all our Muslim brothers and sisters across all the geopolitical zones in Oyo state on this auspicious occasion of 2023 Eid-el Fitr celebration. We’re very grateful to God for his grace and mercy upon us.
“This celebration, despite all the politicization of religion prior to the 2023 general elections has again proved that we can not do without each other as a people, as a state, and as a nation.
“This was clearly demonstrated throughout the holy month of Ramadan by our Muslim brothers and sisters, and if what was right was clearly put to practice during the holy month because of the demands the special month placed on our shoulders, then it clearly shows whatever we choose to do contrary to these Islamic tenets after this celebration was entirely pecuniary.
“It is therefore, very imperative that we shun all forms of political tendencies from any quarters that seek to weaponized religion to create disaffection among us for political gains and I believe with the right mindset, Nigerians, especially the dominating youthful population can start to make a bold statement with this and start to chart a new course for our continuous peaceful coexistence.” Ajani said.
Muslims mark low-key Eid-el-Fitr in Imo amid biting economy, insecurity.
As Muslims across the world observe the annual Eid-el-Fitr celebration, those in Imo State say they have opted for a low-key celebration.
They blamed the development on the deteriorating economic situation and pockets of insecurity in the state.
The Federal Government had declared Friday, April 21, and Monday, April 24 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
This was made known to the public by the Federal Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
But a cross-section of Muslims interviewed at Ama-Hausa Douglas Road Owerri, Shell Camp mosque Owerri, and Senator Alhaji Umar Maduagwu memorial mosque Oguta Local Government Area said they took solace in being alive even in the face of the hardship.
Imo has been battling insecurity occasioned by the activities of unknown gunmen, making life difficult in many parts of the state.
Some Ama-Hausa Owerri residents told DAILY POST that they were only celebrating Eid-el-Fitr to give thanks to God for preserving their lives.
Quadri Rabiu, a tailor, claimed he had intended to attend the celebration in his village but was unable to pay the cost of getting there.
“My family and I would celebrate in our small way here to give thanks to Allah and pray for brighter days in the future.
I have sent the little I can afford to my people at home,” he said.
Another local, Abu Aisha, who was en route to his hometown, claimed that making the trip for Eid-el-Fitr each year is a tradition she can’t live without because it gives her the chance to interact with other family members.
For Muslims in the Shell Camp mosque areas of the state, engaging fully in the Zakat Fitri, an essential part of the Ramadan which involves giving to the needy for the Eid-el-Fitri celebration, might be difficult due to the hike in the prices of food items.
A housewife, Mrs. Adeola Raji said she had to drag her husband to the market for him to have firsthand information about the ugly development.
Another Shell Camp resident, Elrufia Yahaya told DAILY POST, “We realised that things are difficult economically. However, we must give God praise for preserving our lives. We must observe it with moderation and hope that next year will be better.”
Abdulrasheed Muhammed, an Oguta mosque resident who also spoke with our correspondent, revealed that he had abandoned the yearly ritual of visiting his homeland in Kaduna State due to the country’s economic difficulties.
He said, “For all of us Muslims, the Eid el-Fitr celebration is a unique time of the year. It is the season to practise compassion and love, which are two of Islam’s tenets. It is a moment when we sit quietly and think while pleading for Allah’s mercy.”
Eid-el Fitr: Oyo PDP Felicitates Muslim Faithful, Calls For Religious Tolerance, Peaceful Coexistence
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has extended its felicitation to Muslim Faithful across the state on the auspicious occasion of 2023 Eid-el Fitr celebration.
The party commended the Islamic community in the state for what it described as fighting against all odds to protect the sanctity of the unity in the nation’s multi-religious structure in Oyo state.
The Oyo state chairman of PDP, Honourable Dayo Ogungbenro, in a press statement on Friday morning, (today), which was made available to journalists in Ibadan by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Akeem Olatunji, urged Muslims not to jettison the significance of the holy month of Ramadan as a mere annual religious exercise but to imbibe and exhibit them daily.
The ruling party noted that if humans, regardless of their religious affiliations, would put humanity, which has its roots in love and compassion and deeply entrenched in the tenets of Islam according to the teachings of Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W), the world would be a better place for it.
Impressed by the performance of the party in the 2023 general elections, the ruling party particularly expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for providing the needed political leadership which made it extremely impossible for divisive elements in the state to create disaffection and religious disharmony using religion as a tool prior to the elections.
The ruling party disclosed that much was negatively speculated from different quarters prior to the 2023 elections but for the confidence reposed in the Makinde led government, many unsuspecting members of the public would have been swayed to believe the false religious propaganda.
While specially thanking Governor Seyi Makinde and his Deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal for exemplifying an example of what a typical harmonious interreligious relationship should be, the ruling party maintained that such example has yielded far reaching positive effects among political followers especially in PDP in Oyo state.
“We heartily rejoice with our Muslim Ummah across the state for the peaceful and successful completion of the year 2023 Ramadan fast which has exposed our eyes to the fact that with religious tolerance and harmony, we can create an egalitarian society devoid of fear, discrimination, segregation or denial on account of religious difference.
“We can not overemphasize the beauty of our religious diversity not only as a people but as a state with a collective destiny. It is therefore, imperative to all Muslim Ummah across the state to dutifully put to practice the teachings of Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W), especially during the just concluded holy month of Ramadan.
“While looking ahead of the next democratic dispensation under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, with renewed vigor and hope, we appeal to every resident in the state to eschew all forms of divisive vices and tendencies capable of truncating our fragile democracy.
“We also want to particularly appeal to our religious leaders and Clerics to only deliver sermons that promote peace, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians such that religious ideologies exhibited by their followers will depeen the spirit of compassion for one another among residents of the state.” Ogungbenro said.
Eid-al-Fitr: Saudi sights moon, declares Friday for Sallah
Saudi Arabia announced the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, will begin on Friday in the kingdom.
“Tomorrow, Friday, is the first day of Eid al-Fitr for this year,” with Thursday the last day of Ramadan, the official Saudi Press Agency said on its Twitter account citing a royal court statement.
The timing of Eid al-Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, in accordance with the Muslim lunar calendar.
The holiday is normally celebrated with family gatherings.
The daytime fasting month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam.
Observant Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk, and traditionally gather with family and friends to break their fast in the evening.
It is also a time of prayers, with the faithful converging in large numbers at mosques, especially at night.
Fasting is widely practised in Saudi Arabia, home of the holiest shrines in Islam in Mecca and Medina.
Saudis are expected to observe a four-day holiday for Eid al-Fitr.

Barely 6 days to the State Gubernatarial and house of Assembly Election, The Muslim Rights Concern, Muric has advised Oyo state governor, Makinde to remove his name from Adogba rebuilt Mosque. EAGLE’S SIGHT NEWS REPORTS.
This medium recalls, that Oyo State government had demolished Adogba Central Mosque on Iwo Road, Ibadan, to pave way for the construction of an interchange (bus terminal).
As contained and quoted from a report gathered from PREMIUM TIMES, The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), has kicked against the decision of the Oyo State government to rename a popular central mosque on Iwo Road, Ibadan, after Governor Seyi Makinde.
The Islamic group is also demanding immediate reversal to the old name of the mosque.
MURIC made the demand in a statement by its Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, and made available to PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday.
During a Friday Jumah service in October 2019, Governor Makinde had said the Adogba Central Mosque would be demolished to pave way for the construction of an interchange (bus terminal).
The governor said the project would be completed between nine and 11 months.
He further said a church around the interchange area would also be demolished.
The central mosque has now been rebuilt at another location almost four years after the governor’s promise.
Within its complex are an Arabic school, an Islamic Model School, a Research Centre, a Library, an events hall, ample parking space and a good road network.
It has also been renamed after the governor, to the anger of MURIC, which has accused the governor of trying to score cheap political points.
“Even the timing of the completion of the mosque was calculated to coincide with the 2023 electioneering period. Seyi Makinde has played on the intelligence of the Oyo State Muslim community. It is outrageous,” MURIC said.
The group described the renaming of the mosque after the governor as a desecration of the place of worship. Mr Makinde is a Christian.
“We are shocked to our marrows. What audacity! It is desecration of our place of worship. We cannot worship Makinde. We will worship Allah alone. It would have been right if he had not destroyed our mosque ab initio. But now we can still ask him ‘Where is our mosque?’ It is highly immoral. His action also lacks tact.
“Makinde can only be justified to name the mosque after himself if the money spent on its construction belonged to him personally. He needs to prove that to us but he has not. He used our common patrimony. That money belongs to the tax payers of Oyo State. It is not Makinde’s money. Therefore he has no moral right to name the mosque after himself. It is daylight robbery. It is abracadabra: the more you look, the less you see. Makinde has robbed Peter to pay Paul. Apart from the immoral angle, the governor has exhibited ulterior motive.
“Unfortunately the governor does not know that the Muslims are not pleased with his action. The best advice we can give him at this point is to remove his name from the mosque and replace it with the original name of the mosque which he destroyed, viz, Adogba Central Mosque.
“MURIC is known for dialogue and non-violence. Our motto is ‘Dialogue, No Violence’. Neither do we issue threats or give ultimatum. But the best time for the governor to effect the change of nomenclature is before the gubernatorial election coming up next week, Saturday, 18th March, 2023 in order to avoid protest votes on that day.

Asked if he had problems with anyone prior to the incident, the cleric said he was neither a cultist nor had issues with anyone.
“I am not a cultist; I am an Assistant Pastor in charge of Evangelism in the Seventh Day Adventist Church Abarikpo. Everybody in my community knows I am not a cultist.
“She gave birth to three children, one is late. My daughter is seven, while the little one, a boy, is three years’ old.
“One boy, Sunday, a cultist, claimed he slaughtered my wife because she gossiped and spoke against him. That people told him my wife always spoke against him.
“That is the reason he murdered her. He is a cultist,” said the distraught man. He revealed that the Ahoada Divisional Police Officer visited the scene on Sunday evening.
Steward called on the law enforcement agencies and the government to apprehend the perpetrators and make them to face justice.
“I am calling on the government to help me find those boys that kidnapped my wife, raped and murdered her.
“Let the government and the police help to arrest them and make them pay for what they did to my wife,” the cleric stated.
Speaking, the Public Relations Officer of Igbu Akoh Clan Youth Congress, Ahoada East LGA, Ekeakita Chinem, also confirmed the incident, saying the community had been experiencing a series of killings in recent times.
“So, like we have been having a series of killings in Akoh. When they kill, nobody goes after the bad boys. No security person goes after the bad boys.
“Mrs Steward was kidnapped around 1am; only for us to find out around 10am this morning that she was lifeless after being raped.
“She had bruises in her private parts, especially on her thighs. There was blood all over her body too.
“So, people are living in fear, nervous that no political leader or government agency goes after them. You report or don’t report, what will happen,” he said.
Asked if the matter was cult-related, Chinem answered in the negative, saying she was a married woman.
He recalled, “Late last year, we witnessed 11 killings in that same community. A member of one of the cult groups went to their camp and collected the AK-47 of their master and ran away to their community at Abarikpo. The cult leader sent his boys after him and innocent people; about 11 persons were killed.
“And till today, there is no investigation, no action was taken by the police to fish out the perpetrators from where they are hiding. Nothing at all.”
Meanwhile, a group, the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, has condemned the abduction and rape of Mrs Steward, leading to her death.
The National Coordinator, Prince Wiro, called on the police to carry out proper investigation with a view to apprehending the culprits and making them face justice.
Wiro stated,” It is important that the police get to work. They must carry out a thorough investigation to ensure that the culprits are arrested so that the woman gets justice.”
Efforts to reach the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, proved abortive, as she did not respond to calls put across to her.
Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, had yet to reply to a text message sent to her mobile telephone as of the time of filing this report.
Hoodlums have attacked and destroyed the tithe box and other property of the Motailatu Church of God, Oke-Idahun Parish, at Imafon Community in Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
The church, which is under the umbrella of the Cherubim and Seraphim denomination, was said to have been attacked on Friday.
After the destruction, the hoodlums were said to have set ablaze some items found in the church.
The church’s Resident Minister, Rev. David Akinadewo-Adekahunsi, who spoke on the matter on Sunday, said the footprints of the hoodlums were detected when he got to the church premises in the evening of the fateful day.
He said, “What first caught my attention was the damaged lectern placed on the altar and some broken bottles that littered the church auditorium.
“Many of the plastic chairs belonging to the church and offering trays were set ablaze inside the church. This is malicious damage and we don’t know who could have done this to the church of God.”
Akinadewo-Adekahunsi added that the church’s hymn books and other items kept in a room in the uncompleted church building were also destroyed while the church’s prayer room was also touched by the attackers.
They damaged the window nets, but they could not gain access to the prayer room due to the burglary proof. But they damaged the tithe box,” the cleric stated.
He said the matter had been reported at the Oda Police Division, Akure, and he was assured that those behind the attack will be apprehended.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident but said she was yet to get full details.
“I will get back as soon as the DPO sends me the full details,” the PPRO said.
JUST-IN: CAN Breaks Silence Over Alleged N2 Billion Monetary Gift By Peter Obi, Reveals Next Action A pastor of the Dominion Centre International, Frank Onwumere has petitioned the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria over the alleged misappropriation of N2 billion given to religious leaders by Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to the petition, the money was given to religious leaders by the Labour Party to help mobilise and convince their congregation to vote massively for the candidacy of Obi.
Onwumere alleged that the money can no longer be traced.
He added that it was diverted by mega-churches and popular pastors and leaders already receiving the presidential candidate across the length and breadth of Nigeria without due consideration to other churches that have not received their part of the funds.
The petition read, “With reference to the above and sequel to the meeting convened by my Church Dominion Centre International as Senior Pastor and few other churches within our locality of the Imo State metropolis on the raging misappropriation of N2 Billion disbursed by Mr. Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party to the various Christian organizations, on behalf of our district of the PFN, we do hereby petition the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), while other bodies duly served under the leadership of the Most Rev. Daniel Chukwudumebi Okoh expressing our disappointment, displeasure and disbelief of how the said funds were disbursed to mega-churches, affluent Pentecostal churches, televangelists and renowned popular names of the Christendom.
“We are appalled and disappointed that such humongous amount of money was given to the church by the Labour party to help and assist in mobilizing and convincing their congregation to vote massively for the candidacy of Mr. Peter Obi but to our chagrin, the said sum of money has developed wings and cannot be traced, as we have it on good authority, that it has been fleeced by mega-churches and popular pastors and leaders who already as we write, are receiving the presidential candidate across the length and breadth of Nigeria without due consideration to other churches that have not received their own part of the funds.
“Sir, our grievances and anger are summarized in the questions below that need urgent answers and why would the Christian body of leaders collect a humongous amount of N2 billion on behalf of the entire Christendom and not remit/disburse same funds for which the funds were meant?
“Why would the Christian body go against the laid down procedures including against the Independent National Electoral Commission mandate (INEC) against party politics and engagement of candidate especially in the issue of religion and collecting funds from the backdoor.”
The cleric noted that from investigations carried out, few Catholic Bishops denied knowledge of the disbursement of the money while others were carried along but the funds.
He added that the funds “were shared on different terms based on the congregation of fellowship and the popularity of the pastor/bishop in charge”.
The statement continued, “Some Pentecostal churches denied knowledge of the funds that they are yet to receive theirs while few others said the money, were only given and disbursed to mega churches and popular TV Evangelists of the Pentecostal faith.
“However, we were told that the Redeemed Church, Winners and Dunamis churches were all in the know but refused any partisanship of the funds disbursement. We have it on good authority that other Pentecostal churches and little known pastors felt short-changed and are calling that heads must roll and that the world must hear this and know what is happening in the Christendom.
“That the main purpose of the funds of N2 Billion disbursed by Mr. Peter Obi was to assunge the church for mobilization during this year end so as to allow him audience, to solicit for votes from the churches, while the various church leaders will also instruct their congregations to vote for him massively for the presidential elections, using this month of December to tour the various bodies of churches based on the funds disbursed.
“Accordingly, sir, the money was not used adequately nor was it disbursed transparently by the various church organs, as the leaders that have received theirs are earnestly waiting and soliciting for dates with their various bodies to host the august visitor in their respective churches.
“We gathered that some churches are asking for a visiting fee of about N50 million and above so as to ask their congregation to vote for Mr. Peter Obi during the presidential elections.
“Sir, we are of the opinion, that if such a monumental scandal rocks the church in Nigeria which has become the last hope and opium of the people, it will go down memory lane that it) happened during your leadership and tenure and as such, we respectfully ask for our own share of the funds to enable us receive the presidential candidate and his team to our respective churches.
“While we ask for transparency, equity and justice on the above subject matter, sir, we ask that we stick to the original plan meant for the funds and that all churches of different denominations under the various organs should as a matter of fact receive their dues and funding, if not, we will be forced to write a petition to all the anti-graft agencies and the Ministry of Interior for justice to be done. As this is not the first time such an incident has occurred.
“We have unilaterally agreed that we would not mobilize our congregation for Mr. Peter Obi because our churches in the zone have not received the disbursement.”
Onwumere, therefore, appealed to the CAN leadership through the petition “to use your good offices to rein-in on the mega-churches, bishops and senior members of the various organs, to please, call for a round-table discussion on this very vexatious issue so that the funds can be shared equitably and judiciously for the betterment of every church concerned and for the mobilization of Mr. Peter Obi”.
“We are also using this medium to say that we are ready not to rock the boat as this largesse will go a long way to assist the various churches at this end of the year due to the harsh economic realities. We further use this medium to advise Mr. President of CAN to call on all Christian bodies and organs across the country to always consult one another and all other smaller churches when the need arises for any important issue to be tabled or discussed especially when it concerns funds of this nature,” it added.
But the two numbers on the letter were not available with a voice prompt saying one of the numbers was “not assigned to a customer”.
When SaharaReporters contacted Luminous Jannamike, the Special Assistant on Media to the CAN President, Daniel Okoh, he said the Office of the CAN President never saw such a letter or petition and did not know where the writer also got the CAN stamp on the letter from.
He said, “From The Office of the CAN President, I can tell you that we don’t know where he got it from. You know Peter Obi doesn’t give money.
“We did not get the letter. We don’t know where they got that letter from because we did not get it. We are going to investigate it.”
Jannamike noted that CAN is made up of five blocs namely the Christian Council of Nigeria, the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Organisation of African Instituted Churches, and the Evangelical Church Winning All/Fellowship of Churches of Christ in Nigeria.
“So, you can’t just say Obi gave money to Catholic and PFN, how about the others?” he said, noting that there is something suspicious about the letter.
“So we are going to investigate this; that is the bottom line.”

Says We Have No Anointing Candidate Among Major Contenders
IBADAN – Leaders of Catholic Bishops in South Western part of the country have decried the brutal killing of one of their priests, Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi of the Catholic Diocese of Minna by some hoodlums.
Speaking on behalf of the Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province, comprising Ibadan Archdiocese, Ilorin, Ondo, Ekiti, Oyo and Osogbo Dioceses shortly after their meeting at Jubilee Conference Center, Oke Ado Ibadan, the Archbishop of Ibadan Archdiocese President, Most Rev. Gabriel Abegunrin, maintained that there are conspiracies going on to keep shut the mouth of Catholic priests from saying the truth.
Archbishop Gabriel Abegunrin also said that the killing cannot stop the Catholic Priests from speaking the truth, stressing that Catholic Priests are known for speaking the truth always, noted that those killers are just labour in vain, as they have unknowingly helped the man of God (Rev. Fr. Isaac Ashi) of peaceful transition to heaven by killing him.
“The killers in their thinking thought they can stop us from saying the truth, we are known for speaking the truth and we are not going to stop speaking the truth, the killer of Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi have succeeded in killing him but they don’t kill his spirit, his spirit will continue to speak the truth and preach the word of God.” He said.
Recall that Catholic Priest, Isaac Achi until his death was attached to St. Peters and Paul Catholic Church, Kafin-Koro, Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger was reportedly burnt to ashes by attackers.
The attackers as gathered by Daily INDEPENDENT who could not gained access to the well-fortified building where the priest was living, set ablaze the whole building, burnt the priest alive to ashes.
Archbishop Abegunrin while reading the communiqué issued by the Catholic Bishops of Ibadan Ecclesiastical Province said, “It is with deep sorrow that we learn of the dastardly murder of yet another dear priest, Rev Fr. Isaac Achi of the Catholic Diocese of Minna, we are painfully aware that the priest has suffered the fate of many other Nigerians, some, sadly unannounced. May all the casualties of insecurity in Nigeria rest in perfect peace and may God comfort all the the bereaved who mourn them.”
“We have repeatedly commended the governors of the south west for setting up and sustaining the Amotekun Corps and others for the relatively improved security situation in the southwest, yet we note now with regret that security status of our region took a major hit last week with the kidnap of Rev. Fr. Micheal Olofinlade and all others in captivity and urge all evildoers among us to repent and work with other to build a better Nigeria.
“We urge the authorities to bolster existing security measures to safeguard life and property to add new technology and apprehend and decimate those who engage in such criminal activities in our region and all over the country. Nigerians have a right to enjoy free and safe movement wherever they lived and go and it is the sacred duty of government to make this possible, to the government at all levels, we say it is never too late to do the right because adequate security of life will have an impact on the integrity of the forthcoming general elections.
The general elections coming up between February and March 2023 nationwide offer all Nigerians a long-awaited opportunity to democratically choose their leaders for the next four years. We Bishops fully identify with suffering and pains of all Nigerians over these years while enduring numerous threats to security of life and property, cropping economic downturn and bad political leadership.”
“We share the aspirations and yearnings of all Nigerians to have new leaders who will be true patriots and servants of the people, responsive to the security and welfare of all Nigerians without discrimination.” Abegunrin said.Source: Independent news
This reliable online newspaper ‘Eagle’s Sight News‘ has just gathered that a Catholic priest has been burned to death on Sunday after bandits set fire to his parish rectory in northern Nigeria.
The body of Father Isaac Achi was found among the charred parish building of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church on Jan. 15, according to the Catholic Diocese of Minna, Nigeria.
He died after armed bandits attacked the priest’s residence in the village of Kafin Koro at 3 a.m. Another priest at the rectory, Father Collins Omeh, escaped the building, but sustained gunshot wounds and is being treated in a hospital.
Alhaji Sani Bello Abubakar, the governor of the Nigerian state of Niger where the attack took place, described the attack as “ungodly and inhumane” and directed the local security agencies to pursue the attackers, according to The Daily Post.
“This is a sad moment, for a priest to be killed in such a manner means that we are not all safe, these terrorists have lost it, and drastic action is needed to end this ongoing carnage,” Bello said.
Achi served as the parish priest of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he died. He was also the chairman of his local branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
“May the soul of very Reverend Father Isaac Achi and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in perfect peace,” the Diocese of Minna said in a statement shared by the Nigeria Catholic Network. Sourced from catholicnewsagency.com
General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, yesterday, said God’s grace and mercy made Nigerians have a smooth and peaceful transition into the year 2023.
Speaking at the national headquarters of the church, Ebute-Meta, Lagos, during the New Year Thanksgiving service, Adeboye said it is worth celebrating to have survived a series of challenges and crises in the year 2022.
He said: “If you don’t thank God for 2022, He is there waiting for you in 2023. You need God at every point of your life.
“Many times you wait for people to celebrate you and they don’t show up. I discovered that scriptural speaking is good to celebrate yourself. When we are in primary school if we do something good the teachers would say clap for yourself.
“It may sound strange to you and it was to me too until I saw from the scripture that we need to celebrate even if we need to celebrate ourselves. Ebola came I survived, coronavirus came, I survived, kidnappers are out there I survived. There are murderers wearing police uniforms I survived.
“You may wonder why should I celebrate myself, then go through the Bible, the book of Genesis, then you see that you have lessons to learn from God. When He created He finished the work of the first day, there was nobody around to celebrate Him, He looked at what He has created He said this is good; nobody to say it to me, I said it to myself.
“Second day God said the same thing and on the sixth day when He created man, He said this is very good. And then He took a whole day off to celebrate.”
Some balloons ‘ll be deflated in 2023
Earlier, at the cross-over service held at the Redemption Camp, the cleric said the world will relatively be at peace this year adding that some balloons will be deflated in 2023.
In his 2023 prophecies, he said: “The weather will be more erratic and will now be very nice in some places but we are trusting God it will be nice wherever we are.
“God also says the world this year will be relatively more peaceful. The biggest challenge of 2022 will lead to your biggest testimony in 2023.
“In 2023, the Lord will speak peace to some troubled homes.
“In 2023, for quite a few people, there would be the restoration of lost glories. Many troublemakers will lose the ability to make trouble this year. Few balloons will be deflated this year. There will be a bit of wealth transfer. Generally, 2023 is a year of many opportunities.”
Video: Former Pope Benedict XVI Gives Up The Ghost Eaglessightnews
Former Pope Benedict XVI has died, aged 95, almost a decade after he stood down because of ailing health.
He led the Catholic Church for fewer than eight years until, in 2013, he became the first Pope to resign since Gregory XII in 1415.
Benedict spent his final years at the Mater Ecclesiae monastery within the walls of the Vatican where he passed away at 09:34 (08:34 GMT) on Saturday.
His successor Pope Francis will lead the funeral on 5 January.
The Vatican said the body of the Pope Emeritus will be placed in St Peter’s Basilica from 2 January for “the greeting of the faithful”.
Bells rang out from Munich cathedral and a single bell was heard ringing from St Peter’s Square in Rome after the former pope’s death was announced.
The head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, said Pope Benedict was “one of the great theologians of the 20th century”.
In a statement he said: “I remember with particular affection the remarkable Papal Visit to these lands in 2010. We saw his courtesy, his gentleness, the perceptiveness of his mind and the openness of his welcome to everybody that he met.”
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the former pope “a great theologian whose UK visit in 2010 was an historic moment for both Catholics and non-Catholics throughout our country”.
French President Emmanuel Macron said Pope Benedict “worked with soul and intelligence for a more fraternal world” and said his thoughts went out to Catholics in France and around the world.
Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said Pope Benedict “was a giant of faith and reason”.
“He put his life at the service of the universal Church and spoke, and will continue to speak, to the hearts and minds of men with the spiritual, cultural and intellectual depth of his Magisterium.”
The German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said for many, not only in Germany, Pope Benedict was “a formative figure of the Catholic Church, a controversial personality and a clever theologian”.
Irish President Michael D Higgins said the former pope will be remembered for “his untiring efforts to find a common path in promoting peace and goodwill throughout the world”.
Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, said Pope Benedict was “one of the greatest theologians of his age – committed to the faith of the Church and stalwart in its defence”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Pope Benedict as a “defender of traditional Christian values,” in his New Year address to the nation.
Benedict: The Pope who resigned from the papacy Following news of the former pope’s death people began gathering in St Peter’s Square in Rome.
Annamaria, 65, and Patrizia, 64, visiting from the northern Italian city of Bologna, said they went there immediately as soon as they heard about the death.
“We came here to pray. He was a great pontiff, certainly very different from Francis, he was a great intellectual and scholar. Like the rest of the Church we will always remember him,” Annamaria told the BBC.
Barbara Bernadas, a tourist from the Spanish city of Barcelona, said she and her boyfriend felt a sense of bewilderment when they heard the news.
“We learned of his death just as we were in St Peter’s Square. A tourist guide was just telling us where Benedict lived, it feels surreal. What will happen now? This situation is unprecedented; there are no protocols to follow for what will happen now. Certainly it is an unprecedented historical moment,” she said.
Although the former pontiff had been ill for some time, Vatican authorities said there had been an aggravation in his condition because of advancing age.
On Wednesday, Pope Francis appealed to his final audience of the year at the Vatican to “pray a special prayer for Pope Emeritus Benedict”, whom he said was very ill.
Born Joseph Ratzinger in Germany, Benedict was 78 when in 2005 he became one of the oldest popes ever elected.
For much of his papacy, the Catholic Church faced allegations, legal claims and official reports into decades of child abuse by priests.
Earlier this year the former pope acknowledged that errors had been made in the handling of abuse cases while he was archbishop of Munich between 1977 and 1982.

2023: What I’ll Do If Reelected – Makinde Makes Passionate Promise To Oyo Masses
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, declared that his administration will remain truthful to the people of Oyo State if re-elected.
The governor while speaking with the Oyo State League of Imams and State Rabith’s Acquaintance at the Rabitot-ul-Aimmat Wal Ulama South West office, near Bodija Market, Ibadan, said he will continue to be fair to all religious faithful in the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted Makinde as saying that his administration has been handling issues relating to religious bodies in the state objectively since assuming office.
According to him, his administration has been maintaining the policy instituted on the use of the Hijab in the public schools of Oyo State by the previous administration in the state.
He charged the electorate to cast their votes based on merit, saying that there won’t be any room for those that want to divide the people through religion.
The governor said: “I have noted all the things you have said and if I summarize everything, what you mean is that I am returning as the governor of the state. “And I can assure you that the next government will be better than what we currently have.
“I agree that there are some misconceptions and if I did not address them, people may not be well informed about certain things.
“You talked about appointments into the pilgrim’s welfare board and Education Secretaries. We appointed the education secretaries about two days ago and we have 10 Muslims out of 33 of them.
“The current Commissioner for Education is a Muslim and you know education is one of the major pillars of this administration. Let me repeat it if our elites want to cause division with religion, it won’t be possible.
“As we speak, we have more Muslims holding top positions in this government and I am the only Christian in this echelon.
“What is important is to ensure that those we have appointed deliver dividends of democracy. “We have been trying to balance appointments but must be careful with the way some critics are manipulating data for us.
“When this government came in, we said there is a gap in our secondary schools and the standard has become low. That was why we recruited 5,000 teachers.
“I met with stakeholders and said if we must reverse the rot in the sector, 80 percent of the teachers must be recruited on merit, and 20 percent can be given special consideration.
“And I am happy that we are seeing the result now because the report available to me is that the best set of teachers came from recruitment, and they are the ones in our schools now.
“On hijab-wearing, there is a policy we met on the ground and I have not changed it because it has served us well. If there is a need to review it, we will go through that process.
“I am the first sitting governor that has gone to greet Baba at home and played with him. I will still come back to greet him.
“Out of the 10 Ramadan lectures we have had, I can tell you that six guest lecturers who have been featured are from Oyo State. Four are not from here.
“For the two Hijrah lectures we have had, the two guest lecturers are from Oyo. These are data. I believe that if we want knowledge, we should look both inward and outward.
“On the pilgrim’s welfare board, when I got into government, I was told it is the government that is in charge of the appointments. But I did not do that. Instead, I consulted Baba and he did the needed.
“Now, let me tell you, if I have the opportunity to serve you again, I will remain truthful to you. “And most of the things you pointed out are challenges for us to look at. There are things they said would not be achieved by our administration when we made the promise, but today, we have achieved them.
“We have been able to secure the sole ownership of LAUTECH.
“Also, we have been able to upgrade Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to the University of Education. We also have the First Technical University, which is a specialized institution looking toward the future. “There are things people don’t know; even though one or two people along the line took advantage of that, they just come out and say one or two things, but the reason I am coming out to speak now is that they did all that and they discovered that I am still moving on, they decided to make attempt on my life.
“I just escape an assassination attempt where seven (7) people were killed. My car was attacked, they open fire on my car and keep spraying bullets on my car, my wife and my kids were there. The escort car with the police, they killed a policeman, they killed other people, the other escort car, and the buses with seven people – we were all moving in a convoy they killed.
“People who did this are expecting me to come out and mention names so that they will come out and deny. I don’t do that, but the truth of the matter is this – you can’t kill me, my life is in the hand of God, I am a man of God and those who are among those attacking me, you are building on what you don’t understand.
“You may have joined into the foray because you want to chase cloud, you don’t know where the fight started from. There are things you don’t understand. You don’t have an idea of the beginning of what happened in 2017. The people who are behind it, you may come and you are doing your own things, but is beyond what you are thinking.
“I am alive. For those who called and all that, I am well, the family is fine. I feel bad for the lives that have been taken. We are mourning, but Jesus is Lord, and for those who they killed, may their soul rest in peace.
“And for the young men who open fire and keep wasting people, I won’t take a life, but the seed that you soul you will reap it.
“I want Nigerians to know that I coordinated lie swallowed an uncoordinated truth. With time, the truth will come out,” he said.

Kuka, who celebrated his 70th birth anniversary on Wednesday, spoke when he featured on Arise TV programme, Morning Show. Daily post reported.
According to him, Nigerians are governed by some personalities who have no passion and interest in moving the country forward.
He said, “I would have said I have no regret but the only regret I have outside and inside this country is to see how a nation with such incredible human being ruled by people who are lacking the passion and commitment to place this country in where it ought to be.”
Speaking on his continued agitation for better governance, the Bishop said, “My energy is from the street of Nigeria, the ordinary people I see whether they are Christian or Muslim.
“I have with the sense of modesty, put a little scholarship in my years of priesthood. Focusing of citizens and how we can change the lives of the people”.
The popular clergy who was in 2021, appointed by the Head of Vatican city, Holy Father Pope Francis as a member of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Human Integral Development, is known for constantly speaking to authority on the state of the nation.
Recall that the bishop had a few months ago asked President Muhammadu Buhari to reveal the names of those sponsoring the Boko Haram insurgents causing havoc in several parts of the country.
HIJRAH: We’ll continue to be fair, just to all religious beliefs – Makinde
…donates N2.5m to NACOMYO …moves to evacuate traders selling alcoholic content at Ojoo Bus Terminal
From Ogundele Olanrewaju
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde said on Sunday that his administration will continue to be fair and just to all religious beliefs in the State. The governor, while speaking at the grand rally to mark new Islamic year, Hijrah1444 AH, organized by the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), Oyo state Chapter, held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium Ibadan) , appealed to Muslim Clerics to continue to pray for the success of his administration.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that Governor Makinde was represented at the event by his Deputy, Barr. AbdulRoheem Adebayo Lawal. He explained that the state has ways maintained religious balance, adding that out of 17 members Oyo State Executive Council, nine are Muslims while the remaining eight are Christians.
While speaking on the newly built Bus Terminal, the governor explained that the government will soon be evacuating traders selling alcoholic content at the Ojoo bus terminals.
He later announced the donation of Two Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N2.5m) to support the National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), Oyo state Chapter.
He said:”You also raised concern on the sales of alcoholic content by the road side close to Ojoo Bus Terminal. I don’t think we still need to debate the issue. From now on, I can assure you that, as a government, we will ensure we send all of those people away. And I know that nobody will say our action is based on religious sentiment. For sanity in our society, we must not allow drunkards to be driving our vehicles, thereby influencing passengers too. “So, we need to clear them on time. “In conclusion, I want to say that whatever you think the government needs to be aware of, let us know, and I can assure you that we will take steps.
“The government is donating the sum of N2.5m for NACOMYO but please, let us continue to pray for the state and the country at large. Though, this administration is doing well, we still need your prayers to continue well.”
Earlier, the Oyo State coordinator, Alhaji Dawood Afolabi, lauded Oyo State Government under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde for declaring public holiday to mark the first day of the new Islamic year, adding that the governor last year, held a luncheon with Muslims at the government house to mark the new Muslim new year.
He explained that the governor has been addressing the complaints of the Muslim Community about appointments made in his administration, saying the whole Muslim Community appreciate him. He assured Governor Makinde of the support of the Muslims in the state, in as much as he ensures religious justice in all spheres of governance.
Prof Abdul Afis Oladosu in a lecture titled “2023 General elections: Muslims and the implications of an ambivalent righteous majority,” charged Muslims in the state to ensure they register, collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and vote in the 2023 elections wisely for the God-fearing leaders.
He enjoined politicians to abide by the rules and regulations guiding the electoral process and to fulfill all promises when they get to power, so as to avoid the wrath of God.
“I urge the politicians and all seekers of positions of authority to fear Allah and remember the day they would return to Allah, the creator of all, with nothing but records of their actions and deeds,” he said.
The imposter, who identified himself to Peoples Gazette as Joseph Odaudu, said Mr Tinubu’s hirelings broke a mutual agreement to be paid N100,000 for the shady job.
“They came to meet us at the car park behind Eagle Square and they promised to give me N100,000. They bought food for us and took us to another place where they gave us clothes to dress like Christian leaders and reverend fathers,” Mr Odaudu told The Gazette shortly after the event in Abuja on Wednesday. “But after we finished they only gave me N40,000 and another person said they got only N30,000. I don’t know why they changed our agreement because they said they had N100,000 for us.
“I am a Christian and I am supporting Tinubu but I hate when people lie and fail to deliver on their promises,” he added.
A spokesman for Mr Tinubu’s campaign did not immediately return a request seeking comment.
The fake bishops had appeared in a cassock to give Christian voters a false impression that Mr Tinubu’s decision to pick a Muslim northerner as his running-mate for the 2023 general election meant well for the country despite strong criticism from the Christian community and opinion leaders in the country.
The Catholic Church had described those who appeared at the event held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja as “impostors,” telling The Gazette the church had no representation at the event.
When asked if he knew that it was illegal to disguise as a Catholic bishop, Mr Odaudu insisted he didn’t break any laws.
“No law was broken we only tried to show Nigerians that Christians are solidly behind Asiwaju Tinubu,” he added.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had kicked against the choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket and registered its opposition against the ruling decision of the ruling All Progressives Congress for the 2023 election.
Also, Christian leaders in the APC had repeatedly warned that the same religion ticket would spell doom for the party, following reactions and heavy criticism from Nigerians.
The Christian Association of Nigeria has challenged the All Progressives Congress to mention its (CAN) officials who attended the unveiling of its vice presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima, by the flagbearer, Bola Tinubu.
The demand came barely five hours after the Vice President of CAN (19 Northern States and Abuja), Rev. Joseph John Hayab, dissociated the organisation from the visit.dissociated the organisation from the visit.
Adebayo Oladeji, Special Assistant on Media and Communication to the President of CAN, Samson Ayokunle, threw the challenge in his short reaction sent to journalists in Abuja.
He said, “Let them name the CAN officials at the programme and their offices. If they could use 2017 photos to claim that some Pastors visited Shettima and lied that Pastor E. A Adeboye has endorsed them, they could do anything.
“Our position on Muslim-Muslim ticket is irreversible. Anybody can claim anything but one thing is clear, CAN was not part of the unveiling programme of Shettima.”
Hayab had earlier in his reaction said that although the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was free to “hire mechanics and other artisans and sew clerical garments for them”, that effort would only add to their many ropes but would not change the need for fairness and justice.
He had said, “The people we saw at the unveiling of Shettima paraded as Bishops are people who did not have enough time to learn how to wear Bishop garments. Take a closer look at their photo and you will see another Nollywood movie.
Disowns Bishops At Unveiling Of Shettima As Tinubu Running Mate
Meanwhile according to daily post the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna State chapter, has earlier had described the presence of bishops at the official unveiling of former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, the running mate to the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress as another “Nollywood movie”.
“CAN wonders why the desperation. First, a story was out claiming to have come from the Chairman of CAN Borno state only to be refuted. Secondly, there was another lie that BAT (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) and his running mate were on their way to meet CAN President one night. A meeting that was not true and was on a night that the CAN President was in Alabama USA attending the Baptist World Alliance Conference of which he is the Vice President.
“Another desperation story was that they met Papa Adeboye which the RCCG later refuted. If Christians are not important, why the desperation?
“BAT is free to hire mechanics and other artisans and sew clerical garments for them. An effort that will only add to their many ropes when the political exercise is over but will not change the need for fairness and justice that CAN is calling for.
“CAN appreciates that we are in a democracy, no need to do funny and dubious things just to prove a point because it will at the end bounce back. The BAT team should simply do what is right and stop the drama.”
According to Rev. Hayab, CAN wondered why the desperation of the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that firstly, there was a story claiming to have come from the Chairman of CAN Borno State identifying with Kashim Shettima, only for the story to be refuted by the same source.
Rev. Hayab observed that there was another lie that Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his running mate were on their way to meet CAN president one night, stressing that Christians in the country remain focused in conducting themselves in accordance with the laid down constitution of the country by casting their votes to a credible candidates in the 2023 general elections.
He explained, “A meeting that was not true and was on a night that the CAN president was in Alabama USA attending the Baptist World Alliance Conference of which he is the Vice President.”
CAN noted that it was alleged that the APC presidential candidate met with Papa Adeboye, which the RCCG later refuted, saying that there is nothing in it but an act of desperation in the story that they met Papa Adeboye.
Rev. Hayab said, “CAN appreciates that we are in a democracy, no need to do funny and dubious things just to prove a point because it will at the end bounce back.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s team should simply do what is right and stop the drama. Because of desperation, the hired bishops took the shine of the occasion more than the candidate that was unveiled, what an irony.”
He called on Nigerians to ensure they vote credible candidates in the 2023 general elections, saying that it is the only way the country could be restored and take its place in the community of nations.
THE Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, Tunde Bakare, has blamed Nigerian Christian leaders for the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muslim-Muslim ticket ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Eagle’s Sight News recalls that Presidential candidate of the APC Bola Tinubu picked former Borno State governor Kashim Shettima as his running mate, a development which has been widely condemned by many Nigerian Christians, including the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
In a press statement issued in Lagos on Sunday, Bakare, a former APC presidential aspirant, said Christian leaders in the country have propagated a wrong notion of politics which led to the political marginalisation of Christians.
“What is happening today is the price we are paying or having to pay for the years of failure of the Church to strategically participate in the political process.”
Bakare also faulted the attitude of Christian leaders towards clergymen who go into active politics.
“The antagonism that was meted on some of us who have ventured from the pulpit to the podium even from among our Christian leaders was always a pointer that a day will come when the Church will face a rude awakening of the consequence of passivity,” he said.
Bakare advised Christian leaders to negotiate their interests with all the presidential candidates of the various political parties. He however said they must do so with an open mind of nation-building and national development.

I never asked Christians to go and buy guns. Samson in the Bible did not fight with guns,’’ Pastor Adeboye said on Sunday.
Eagle’s Sight News reports that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, has clarified the viral statement by some news medium claiming he said the Christians shoul go and buy gun and exchange fire for fire!
Recall this reliable online newspaper earlier reported that the statement of the Octogenarian cleric that says ‘there is no place in the Bible that God said His children should not defend themselves.
According to a recent update, Pastor Adeboye said he did not
asked Christians to buy guns for self-protection. In his words:
“I never asked Christians to go and buy guns. Samson in the Bible did not fight with guns,’’ the renowned cleric said on Sunday at the monthly thanksgiving live television programme of the church.
The clarification came against media reports that the general overseer said it was now “fire-for-fire’’ for any attack on Christians.
“Don’t buy guns. You don’t want to kill anybody. We just must make sure that unwanted visitors don’t come to our churches, so don’t go and buy guns,’’ he said.
At the July Holy Ghost Service, on July 2, Pastor Adeboye urged members of the church not to be afraid to attend church programmes because of the terrorist attack on a church in Owo, Ondo State.
Following the Insecurity in the country, several attacks and killing of Christians , the renowned Christian cleric , the General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has admonished Christians to defend themselves when necessary.
In the words of the cleric, he started :
“I ddon’t want to say much, because I know whatsoever I say some people may want to twist it.But I have searched the Bible from cover to cover, and there is no where in the Bible where God say his child cannot defend himself. He said, if the slap you on the right chick….”

Pastor Adeboye :Attack On Christians, It’s Now Fire For Fire, Cleric Warns Terrorists
Eagle’s Sight News reports that The prominent Christian cleric , General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned that enemies of the Cross, especially terrorists should brace up for what he calls ‘fire for fire.’ TribuneOnline has learned.
Adeboye’s warning came on the heels of an alleged declaration by Boko Haram terrorists that churches should be closed down for three months.
Preaching on the theme: ‘Complete in Jesus’ Saturday morning at the 3×3 Auditorium, Shimawa, Ogun State, on the occasion of the July Holy Ghost Service, the octogenarian urged members of the church to stop being lazy in coming to the camp as well as stop being afraid to attend church programmes.
It will be recalled that on June 5, suspected terrorists invaded Owo in Ondo State and massacred over 40 worshippers at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, OwaLuwa, injuring several others.
The development sent fears into several Christians who became afraid of gathering in churches.
The Ifewara-born mathematician, however, denounced such move, asserting that members of RCCG, as well as other Christians, should rise to the occasion and call the bluff of the devil.
“Oh, some jokers said churches should not open for three months. Who’s your commander? God or Boko Haram?
“Let the devil try any nonsense. From now on, it’s going to be fire for fire,” he vowed.
The renowned cleric, who sounded spoiling for a spiritual showdown with the kingdom of darkness, warned against further blasphemy against Jesus Christ, warning such would attract dire repercussions.
“I understand that one funny fellow said that some people were calling on Ogun (god of iron) because Jesus Christ didn’t answer them.
“Well, the one who said so, there’s a Yoruba proverb that says the mouth that the snail used to blaspheme God, that mouth will kiss the ground.
“From now on, anyone who dares blaspheme the name of Jesus Christ will taste the fire of the Almighty God,” he decreed to the thunderous shout of Amen by the mammoth congregation.
He further charged the worshippers not to be afraid of the marauders, saying the God who preserved them when Covid-19 was ravaging the universe is still in the business of protecting them against threatening enemies of the gospel.
The respected man of God also hinted at the standpoint of the Holy Bible as regards self-defence, saying having searched the scriptures from cover to cover, he hadn’t seen where defending oneself was an offence.
“But how are we sure we are safe? Let me ask you some few questions because this is a new beginning:
“Are you alive today because of the precautions you took against Coronavirus?
“Are you alive because you wore the mask, watched your hands – I’m for hygiene and you know that. I also wore masks for some time.
“Some people never left home; they didn’t go anywhere yet they caught coronavirus.
“How come conductors who were interacting with others, collecting ‘change’ directly from different commuters did not contract it?
“I always look at them and say God is wonderful! How many people does a bus conductor come in contact with everyday? And they did not catch the virus. Why?
“Safety is of the Lord! Tell your neighbour. Nobody is going to kill me. I don’t want to say much so they don’t twist it.
“But I have searched the Bible from cover to cover and there is nowhere in the Bible where God said a child of God can’t defend himself.
“If you find the place, let me know. He said if they slapped you on the right cheek, turn the left cheek. Abi, he said that one.
“If they now slap the left, what did He say? When God is silent, do you know the meaning of that? It simply means ‘over to you.’
“Every enemy of the church, as long as my Father is on the throne, as long as Jesus lives, as long as His name is the Consuming Fire, if they don’t repent, the fire of God will consume them.

The Nigerian Police on Wednesday apologised to the residents of Owo and Nigerians over the terror attack on the worship centre in Owo, Ondo state, where over 40 lives were lost, with the assurance that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 17, which included Ondo and Ekiti Command, Yunus Akeera, tendered this apology during a condolence visit to the palace of Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunye, and the scene of the church attack.
Akeera disclosed that the police have been working round the clock to unravel the facts surrounding the horrific attack, saying such the incident will not repeat itself again in any part of the country.
The AIG said that police will henceforth engage the community in order to prevent reoccurrence but called for the cooperation of the people of the state to tackle insecurity across the country.
He said “Issues like this have never happened and people are wondering, why Owo? We must say we are sorry for what has happened. But as law officers, we are going to put our ears to the ground and we will leave no stone unturned to make sure those who are behind this wicked act will be apprehended and faced with the law. This I must assure you.
“We have come to the scene of the crime and from all indications the place is situated in the heart of town and any rational person will be wondering what could happen and our focus should be how to go about round up those behind this incident so that they will be prosecuted.
“Furthermore, all the security architecture will be placed here so that such incidents will not repeat themselves anymore and other areas in the state.
“The focus is to give robust policing. We are going to engage with the community and we employed them to give us useful information and all hands must be on deck because security is everybody’s business.”
The police boss commended the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, over the Executive Order signed to compel public and private institutions in the state to install Close Circuit Television (CCTV) on their facilities, saying that the move will enormously enhance the fight against crime by security agencies.
“The governor’s pronouncement is a welcome development. All over the world, that is the best practice. If every public places have CCTV installed in their environment, it will checkmate a lot of things. It will give adequate capturing of who and who goes in or goes out. It will also ease investigation.
“It is a positive development, I think the governor has done what is needed so that the entire state can move forward. I commend the governor for the progressive and proactive pronouncement.
“We are wondering what would have led these evil people to perpetuate this kind of thing to disturb Owo kingdom. Up till now, we are yet to get out of the shock because what us pondering in my mind and in my heart is what must have pushed these people to come this far because Owo as a kingdom is noted for its education and peaceful co-existence.
“Issues like this have never happened and people are wondering, why Owo. We must say we are sorry for what has happened. But as law officers, we are going to put our ears to the ground and we will leave no stone unturned to make sure those who are behind this wicked act will be apprehended and faced with the law. This I must assure you”
He said “The Inspector General of Police and his team are not happy about it. There is nobody who is law-abiding who will be happy to see that innocent lives killed just like that. The God that created all of us, place a sacred value on our lives.
“As a Muslim, the belief is that if you kill one life is as if you have killed humanity. Equally, it is in the bible. I don’t know which kind of religion these people are practising for them not to have value for human lives.
“I’m reassuring that as police we will work ourselves tirelessly to ensure that we will get to the bottom of this issue. We will be very proactive and pragmatic about it so that this thing will not happen again.”
While urging the police to unearth those behind the attack, Oba Ogunoye, lamented that police in Owo lacked operational vehicles as well as adequate personnel.
“One could not fathom the reason why those people could go to that extent. They are not Muslims and they are not Christians. As I often say, they are not human beings and they don’t worth human existence.
“I know that very soon, the full wrath of the law will be against them. I know that Nigeria Police is very professional and when they set out to do an assignment, the results will be so certain.
“The Nigeria Police have not only performed here, even when they are on international assignment. As you set out your aims and objective will be achieved.
“The major challenges facing police operations in Owo is lack of vehicles and personnel. They don’t have vehicles to mobilise to the crime scene and for quick movement. Also, the number of personnel here is inadequate considering the fact that Owo is a big city.” Source:Tribune Online ht

Eagle’s Sight News reports that Pastor Folorunsho William Kumuyi, founder and general superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has advised politicians to conduct research on what Nigerians desire regarding the next set of leaders.
Kumuyi gave this powerful message on Wednesday, while addressing journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara capital, shortly after he paid a courtesy visit to Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor of the state.
Pastor Kumuyi said that , political leaders need to make consultations, especially on speculations around Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket for the 2023 presidential election. Quoting Kumuyi, the cleric man stated:
“The Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket is a difficult and slippery area,” he said.
“So, what I will say is that the political office holders should look at the heartbeat of the country as well as desires of the people.
“Politicians should know that they are not there for themselves. They are there for all of us. They should ask and make their researches about what the country wants.
“They should ask and make their researches on what the country wants, what the people want. If they listen to the people, we will be confident that they will listen to us when they get there.”
On insecurity, Kumuyi commended security agencies for their efforts, but said more should be done to improve the situation.
“In every area of life, I will say there’s room for improvement. I want to credit the officers who are putting their lives on the line to secure the whole country,” NAN quoted him as saying.
“We should pray for them that God will give them more wisdom and visible victory.
I will be praying for everyone at the end of every ministration for their desires, aspirations and blessings.
“God is our Creator. Whether we are Muslims or Christians or whatever religion you belong to, we are creatures of God. God is interested in blessing everyone. I am here to be a blessing to everyone.
“There will be empowerment programme for all youths across religious divides as it is meant to redirect the focus of youths for positive future endeavours.”
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, said he resorted to prayers when he knew there was a gang-up against his presidential bid.
Tinubu stated this during his visit to Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, on Sunday.
The former Lagos governor and APC flag-bearer in the 2023 general poll, defeated Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation; Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and 10 other hopefuls, to clinch the ticket.
According to Tinubu: “There is no Lagos indigene that has had the opportunity to become President of Nigeria, despite the contribution of the state to national stability and progress.
“The highest position attained by any Lagosian in national leadership is the position of Chief Judge of the Federation. I took up the fight to break this jinx.
“The battle to secure the APC ticket was hard. When I was almost fed up, I resorted to prayers. I also poured out my mind when I felt there was a gang-up against my person. Thank God that I have brought home the presidential ticket.”
He continued: “The most important task is to get the people to vote for me in the 2023 presidential election.
“We need to take this message to our people across communities, and sensitise them on the need to vote in the general elections,” he said.
On his part, the Oba prayed that Tinubu realises his quest to be president of Nigeria.
“All Yoruba ancestors shall be with you on this journey to make our fatherland a better place. Your emergence as the presidential candidate of your party is the beginning of another journey in your political career.
“Insha Allah, you know the Bible says, ‘don’t be afraid of anything. So, with joy and good health, we shall witness victory. God bless you.”
Meanwhile, The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in a statement, urged Tinubu to learn from MKO Abiola’s political achievements and mistakes.
The Vice Chairman, North East Zonal Chapter of CAN, Rev (Dr) Innocent Solomon, the apex Christian body, noted that Abiola was a successful grassroots politician who won in 1993, the presidential election adjudged to be the most credible in Nigeria’s history.
According to him, one of the greatest mistakes that unfortunately befell him while alive and active in pursuit of his presidential ambition was his decision to fly a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the election.
“Our political leaders must learn from our mistake of the past or we will further the nation away from peace stability and progress. God forbid.”
CAN also cautioned the APC against finalising the tentative Muslim-Muslim combination of Tinubu as its presidential candidate and Ibrahim Masari as his running mate, saying that no party can win the presidential poll without the Christians in the North.
“Any party for that matter must avoid the pitfall of setting Nigeria’s religious communities into political blocks that may result to the greatest religious disharmony in the country.”
The Vice Chairman, North East Zonal Chapter of CAN, Rev. Innocent Solomon, said the apex Christian body noted that Abiola was a successful grassroots politician, who won in 1993, the presidential election adjudged to be the most credible in Nigeria’s history.
According to him, one of the greatest mistakes that unfortunately befell him while alive and active in pursuit of his presidential ambition was his decision to fly a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the election.
Solomon said: “Have we asked why the election adjudged to be the most credible in the Democratic history of Nigeria and yet its government was not to be? Have we ever cared to know the mystery behind the annulment?
“Could it just be that the former military leader, General Ibrahim Babangida, just, on his own, decided to do the impossible? Was it not something beyond his control, a mystery no mortal could explain?
“Nigeria as a result of that annulment passed through one of its most critical and difficult period in history which eventually led to the death of one of Nigeria’s illustrious leader, a remarkable personality who died in custody in an attempt to recover the mandate.”
Eagle’s Sight Sight News reports that the founder of the Household of God Church, Chris Okotie, has called on the presidential candidates of the top political parties to allow him to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking with reporters on Sunday, Okotie urged them to support him to head an interim government.
His appeal was specifically addressed to Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Peter Obi, the flagbearer of the Labour Party (LP).Daily Post reported. As stated by Okotie:
“I want to appeal to all presidential candidates to withdraw from the race and allow me to come in as the interim president,” Okotie said.
“I want to implore Asiwaju to support my government for the betterment of the country and I also want to tell Obi that the system that introduced him cannot take him anywhere, because he cannot operate in the system we have now. All the presidential candidates should support me to succeed President Buhari as the interim president.
“We must also rise above tribe and religion because there is an imbalance in the country and we are not practising federalism instead, what we are practising is a presidential system of government.
“Since 1999, things have been declining because the presidential system of government we are practising has failed us.
“We must get rid of the national and state assemblies because maintaining each member costs the country billions of naira. Some of the standing committees at both assemblies are not useful to the country, they are only representing themselves, not the populace.”

Eagle’s Sight News reports that an Islamic group known as The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has counselled Asiwaju Bola Ahmef Tinubu, to meet the ‘Noble Dozen’, before choosing a running mate for the 2023 presidential election..
According to MURIC ‘Noble Dozen’ is the name it gave to the twelve Northern governors who made their agreement stood strong for Presidency within the APC to go to the South in order to ensure the South produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.
The Islamic group unveils this piece of advice in a statement signed by its director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, on Saturday.
“We will like to advise that apart from ensuring that the position of vice president in 2023 goes to the North, Senator Tinubu should consult the ‘Noble Dozen’,” the group said.
“Those we refer to as the Noble Dozen are those twelve (12) sincere Northern governors who disabused the minds of Nigerians concerning the myth of Northern hegemony and a nonexistent caliphate oligarchy by insisting that APC’s presidential candidate must come from the South. This was a great sacrifice and a noble idea.
“They demonstrated statesmanship, patriotism and nobility of thought by that action. “
Eaglessightnews recalled that Tinubu emerged the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, after he won the party’s presidential primaries at Eagles Square, Abuja on Wednesday
Eaglessightnews reports that Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has berrated those making religion a focal point in governance.
This is following the crisis looming over muslim-muslim ticket.
El-rufai pointed out that he does not care if the President and his vice are all Muslim or all Christians, arguing that what most imperative concern should be the delivery of good governance.
While emphasizing his point, Governor El-Rufai recalled that it was a Lagos-based Pentecostal pastor, Tunde Bakare that brought him into the CPC in 2014 and not President Muhammadu Buhari as it is believed in the general public.
El-Rufai, who is believed to be among those who could be favoured for the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Vice president slot, said people should rather focus on the ability, capacity and competency of individuals instead of their regions.
Recall Eagle’s Sight News previously reported that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a Southern Muslim, won the APC presidential primary after he scored 1,271 to defeat his closest challenger, Amaechi, who polled 316.
According to the updates gathered from daily post, the search for running mates for parties’ flagbearers is now in earnest, following the Independent National Electoral Commission’s order to all presidential candidates to submit names of their co-contestants in one week.
Many individuals and groups have vehemently kicked against any move by Tinubu and the APC to pick a Muslim as vice.
But El-Rufai in an interview with Channels Television on Friday evening, said, “I don’t look at people from Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian angle. Most of my closest friends are Christians.
“It was Pastor Tunde Bakare, a pentecostal pastor, that took me to CPC, not President Buhari. I’m very close to Bakare. I’m very close to many Christians.
“I don’t think the business of governance has anything to do with religion. I think we should look for the best person for the job. A person that will get the job done and let him do that.
“I’m the wrong person to ask because in my State I picked a very competent and qualified woman as a running mate in the 2019 election but just because she happens to be a Muslim people were calling it ‘Muslim-Muslim ticket’ and they said we were going to lose but we won overwhelmingly.
“This fixation of Nigerians on religion instead of conscience, capacity and capability is quite sad and pathetic and I urge you as the media, please take religion out of governance. I don’t think we should be looking at religion.
“Let’s develop this country… Nigeria is at crossroads, we face very serious dangers in security, in economic meltdown…but all people are concerned as far as who will be President or Vice president is concerned, is religion. It’s so sad. It’s not our religions that will solve our problems

SHOCKER:“Why I Resigned From Pastoring In Winner’s Chapel To Become An Herbalist” – Nigerian Man Reveals, Many React
Eaglesightnews reports that a Nigerian man, Oluyinka Oyewusi, has given the reasons for resigning as a pastor of a popular church to become an herbalist.
Yinka revealed that he was called by the spirit while he was ministering. He said that the spirit told him that he was on the wrong path being a pastor.
He narrated the story of him and his two other friends where they had to feed from hand to mouth but had strong will to survive.
Sharing his story on Facebook, he stated that within nine months he became herbalist, he was financially stable and became popular.
According to kinka, he tendered his resignation letter in 2021 with two weeks notice. He accused the church for not caring about anything than money as they showed less regard concerning his letter.
He wrote, “Why I resigned From My Job As A Pastor In Winners Chapel And Became A Babalawo.
Read full story:
” In my formative years, we were three fiery brothers practising Christianity in Iwo town — two of us very poor, but with strange will to survive. After secondary education and with nothing to live for, first among us was a talented beggar. As the second guy, my mother is late, and my father’s whereabout was unknown. So, the first guy and I were living in one of the three houses I knew belonged to the father of the 3rd guy, but the father didn’t care about the 3rd guy, though. The first guy is a genius in gathering monies through request for “urgent 2k” — we lived on this for years”.
“Miraculously, I and the 3rd guy obtained degrees in science and administration respectively; the first guy obtained a degree in theology and became the chaplain of a university Chapel”.
“But those days as a fiery Christian, I lost 40% of my hearing. The last time I visited the first guy of a chaplain, he needed me to source urgent 5k for him. Just this morning, the 3rd guy called me that he has bone fractures and is receiving treatment at the Ogbomosho general hospital. He needs money at least for feeding, but none is forthcoming. Let me add that the first guy is in Baptist, I was in Winners Chapel while the 3rd guy is a Mountain of Fire adherent”.
“Then I joined the ministry in Winners Chapel. Oratory is still my best physical gift — those in Winners Chapel Adeeke, Iwo in 2005 will remember me by the name Yinka. I had studied the scriptures from “paali to paali”; prayer sessions I handled those days looked like wartime events. While in the university, I was sent to pastor a new church in another town and did so successfully. But when I started full-time ministry, what you would usually call hosts of hell came banging at my door. They would tell me what would happen the following day and they would come to pass. They would tell me Mr A was at my door while I was still sleeping by 6:30am and that would be so”.
“Later, those spirits told me why I am on earth, and if I neglect my path, I would regret being born. They said I’m a Babalawo by design. I quickly went on overdrive binding “thoughts that may setup their selves against God’s knowledge and every disobedience…” Then I would hear strange laughter of a group of persons suggesting the spirits were many. Then I traveled to see a primary school mate who is making waves as a general overseer of a church. All his prayers or deliverance made no difference”.
Then voices started threatening me and commanded me to go to a village whose name I never heard hitherto saying that someone is waiting for me there. I googled the name of the town and I found it. I went there because previous messages didn’t fail. I met the person and the priestess gave a stern warning that refusing to work for the gods would be a deadly decision. I accepted the calling right away”.
“But divination is not that easy to learn. I know someone who spent eight years on it. I became a pro within five months by some rare twists of events and within nine months, I became a full-blown Babalawo”.
“I’m tempted to say that Christians practice something different from what the Bible taught me. In 2020, my daughter was on life support at Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho. The bills were clearly beyond what my 50k salary could handle. I requested for help from the church hierarchy by calling the district pastor, and he said I should follow a correct route in channelling my request. I replied that I first of all called the area pastor who directed me and gave me his number to call. The district pastor started sounding offensive. That was why I went to nairaland and made a thread for help.
Someone I met online sent huge amount of money to me in the following thread to clear hospital bills”.
“I tendered a resignation letter in Winners Chapel in 2021 with two weeks notice. Before the notice elapsed and till today, I never heard anything from them about my resignation. But when the district church mistakenly paid a sum of money into my bank account after I had left (that money ought to be sent to the current pastor of the church) I told the accountant and he asked me to refund it immediately. While working there, I never had any history of misconduct. They treated me as though I never existed; that action reduced me to a new low, lower than the basest of animals…” See his post below for godly advise and encouragement:

Consequent upon Sunday’s invasion of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State by suspected bandits, during which many unsuspecting worshippers were massacred, the South-West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) has alerted governors of South-West states on need to rise up in unanimity to prevent future occurrence.
The group also urged the governors to as a matter of urgency and necessity embark on statewide registration of commercial motorcycle riders popularly called Okada riders with a view to have a database for all legitimate Operators in their various states and prevent crimes emanating from their operations.
The chairman, Mr Olayinka Agboola and Mr Remi Oladoye, the Public Relations Officer (PRO)of the online publishers in a statement, specifically urged the governors to tighten security on commercial motorcycle operators through a coordinated data system to separate criminal elements from law-abiding operators.
“A situation whereby everybody is coming from everywhere, including neighbouring countries, to operate okada unchecked could mean a recipe for surprise attacks like what was witnessed in Owo on Sunday. It is high time our governors went after those who disguise as okada riders but are gun carriers and peddlers. They are in our midst already, but with governors’ resolve, they can be sent back to where they came from,” he noted.
SWEGOP commiserated with the bereaved Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and people of the state over the incident, praying to God to repose souls of the victims and grant families they left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
“The evil these strangers do in our midst is becoming too much to bear. Our leaders should, therefore, rise up now to this challenge before they wipe everybody off,” the statement concluded.
Methodist Prelate Shares Powerful Revelation About His Kidnapping Experience In The hands Of Kidnappers ..😳😥[Full Story]
Eagle’s News reports that The Methodist Church Nigeria Prelate, His Eminence Samuel Kanu Uche, have narrated his near death experience in the hands of kidnappers tribune online has learned.
PRELATE of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Sam Uche, on Tuesday confirmed that the people who abducted him, a bishop of the church and his chaplain collected N100 million as ransom before they were released.
The Prelate was kidnapped alongside the Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Reverend Dennis Mark, and his chaplain last Sunday on their way from a church programme in Okigwe, Imo State to Isuochi in Umu Nneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
They were however released on Monday after spending a day with the abductors. Recounting his experience at a press conference at the Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Church, Yaba, in Lagos on Tuesday, the cleric said the church paid N100 million to the abductors, adding that the money was arranged in five sacks of N20 million in each sack.
The Prelate also said that neither the federal, state governments nor even security operatives made efforts to secure his release.
Meanwhile, a full story of how how the kidnapping experience went as gathered from All Facts Newspaper reads:
“It has been reported that the Prelate alongside the Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark and the Prelate’s chaplain were on Sunday, kidnapped in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia state.
“Narrating his experience in a Press conference held at Methodist church yaba, Lagos state and monitored by All Facts Newspaper, the clergyman said their abductors were fulanis alleging that some personnel of the Nigerian Army from Fulani extraction were aiding the kidnappers in their activities.
In his word;
“these people came out from the bush;they divided themselves into 3 places; some people fired at us and there was another group in front to make sure that we didn’t run away; they fired shots at our vehicle and eventually, they abducted 3 of us.
“The communication man of the church was able to escape, the driver was able to escape; the abducted me, the bishop of Owerri and my chaplain and they took us to the bush and were torturing us. It was in the process of that torture that I hit my right eye on a tree. Even when blood was flowing and I was soaking my eyes with a handkerchief, they didn’t feel like anything happened.
“All they said was that we should follow them; that they were not actually against Nigerian citizens but against the government, that the government is a bad government.
“they are Fulani boys; all the 8 are fulanis; they said the day they will see the president or any of his representatives they will chew him raw; that he is their brother but he has disappointed them and has disappointed Nigeria.
” I said even though am part of government, am a church man am not a government official; they said okay, that is what have saved you, we would have killed you out-rightly without asking for any ransom but now that you are a church man, lets go inside the bush.
“I trekked up-to 15 kilometers but I knew that we were rigmaroling, going up going down and eventually at 11pm they said okay now we can negotiate; each of us will pay N50million and we are going to pay N150million. I thought it was a joke; I said we were going to pay 10million and they said what? Don’t say that; they lifted up their knife to cut me,I said please hold on.”
According to the clergy, the leader of the group is about 35 years while the others are about 18.
He said they had taken his rings, chain, took the money they had on them and insisted on 150 million ransom.
The clergy said the abductors came down to 100million ransom, warning that if they negotiate, they would be killed.
“I said okay. We will pay you N100 million. After some time, they said where is the money and I said this is Sunday night how can we get money this night and you know that there is this sit at home in igbo land. We cant afford the money now be patient till morning, we will make contacts.”
He said they lost patient, laid bishop Dennis Mark down, raised a knife to cut him, while another pointed a gun at him (prelate) to show that they were serious,
“I told them we will raise the money for you. But the irony of it, where they were situated, the soldiers all of Fulani extraction, Nigerian soldiers, they were there at Lomara junction and this boys were going behind them. Meanwhile they kept their cows somewhere, numbering about 200.
He said some people were taking care of the cows while the abductors were parading them around the bush until they settled at a place,
“they said when are you bring the money? I said by 12 noon, I will call the people i’ve contacted whether the money had been raised and I called them, they said that they are gathering the money and they heard it because they said I will use my phone to talk, they cant use their phone, they don’t want to be tracked
“their leader was born in igbo land but his parents have died. He said he was born around Umuahia Amuzukwu and his father was a cow dealer, the boy understood igbo”
He said the leader threatened to kill them if they informed security operatives when they had raised N100million.
The leader asked them to buy 5 ghana must go bags and put N20million in each bag. They left to pick the ransom while four others waited on them with guns.
“around 5;30pm, the youngest boy who I think is a younger brother to their commander said oga congratulations you are free you can go now. We have got our money, you can go. Let me show you the road.
“they took us to old road, where they wrote welcome to Imo’ and ‘goodbye from Abia”.
“they told us that after buying enough weapons, they are going to bring all those people that were driven away from zamfara, katsina, sambisa forest that they are all coming to locate themselves in igbo land and deal with us.
“he said do you know Ibadan expressway? We are in all the bush there , we are also in the south south, we are waiting for the slightest signal we will finish you people and take over this land. They claimed that Nigeria belong to Fulani.
The priest maintained that military personnel’s of Fulani extraction were aiding the kidnappers who disguise as herders in the daytime but are kidnappers at night.
He called on the government to take a decisive action ‘other wise what is happening in the north will be a child’s play”
On how they picked up the ransom, he said the terrorists came to the pick up spot with a truck without a number plate.
He stated that all efforts made to ensure that he is released was the effort of the Methodist church and her members and not security personnel nor government.
Eagle’s News confirmed that not less than 34 team of a legal awyers yesterday appeared in defence of the two suspects, Bilyaminu Aliyu and Aminu Hukunci, arraigned over last Thursday’s murder of a 200-level female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Deborah Yakubu,
The suspects, who are students of the college were arraigned before a Sokoto Chief Magistrate’s Court, under tight security for their alleged murder of their colleague, pleaded not guilty to the crime.
As contained in Leadership News, it was gathered that in the First Information Report (FIR), prosecuting police officer, Inspector Khalil Musa, told the court that they were accused of participating in a disturbance act that led to the death of Samuel on May 12, this year.
When the charges were read to them, the accused pleaded not guilty.
The leader of the defence team, Professor Mansur Ibrahim, applied for bail on behalf of the accused persons.
Ibrahim urged the court to grant the accused bail on liberal terms, citing constitutional provisions and sections of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law.
The trial judge (name withheld for security reasons), however, reserved ruling on the bail application to a later date which will be communicated to the lawyers and ordered the accused to be remanded at a correctional centre.
Recall the general overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Chinyere, has offered “automatic scholarships” to the seven siblings of the late Deborah.
Deborah was stoned and burnt alive on the school campus for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.
Reacting in a Facebook post on Monday, Chinyere promised Deborah’s parents jobs and a better life.
The cleric wrote, “I just watched a video clip where the parents of Deborah Samuel said they will not be sending their children to school again. God forbid.
“Anyone with their contacts should inform them immediately that I Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere the general overseas of OPM Church is relocating them to Port Harcourt. They would be staying in one of the OPM Free Estates where they will never pay rent forever.
“All their children are given automatic scholarships in OPM Free Schools.
“I will get the father a job and I will also open a shop for the mother. Please get in touch with them immediately,” he said.
Chinyere had earlier in March offered scholarships to two Nigerian security guards who were sacked after being seen dancing during work hours in a viral video.
The security guards, known as The Happy Boys, have since travelled out of the country for studies.
Deborah’s killing has sparked outrage in Nigeria and overseas with calls for justice and swift prosecution of those arrested in connection with the crime.
However, some Muslim youths and leaders have demanded for the release of the suspects and took to the streets last Saturday in Sokoto.
The protesters vandalised and burnt market stalls, churches and structures perceived to belong to Christians.
Governor Aminu Tambuwal subsequently imposed a curfew on the state to stem the violence that broke out.
Last Sunday, the deceased’s mother, Aileri Emmanuel, had said that she would never send her remaining seven children to school because of the barbaric murder of her daughter.
Emmanuel amid tears said, “I have no demands; I don’t want anything but one thing I know is that my children will never go to school again.”
The deceased’s father, Garba Emmanuel, who is a security guard with the Niger State Water and Sanitation, also lamented that he used his whole savings to send his eldest child (Deborah) to school.
Eagle’s Sight News reports that the Southern and Middle Belt Alliance (SaMBA) on Monday has asked for accelerated prosecution of those involved in the murder of late Deborah Samuel, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State condemning the act in its entirety.
Speaking in a statement signed by Prince Rwang Pam Jnr. on behalf of the group and made available to newsmen, the group expressed its greatest dissasfactions stating that the killing of Deborah Samuel is not acceptable under any guise.
SaMBA also criticised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for what they described as a ‘level of insensitivity not fitting for a president.’
It added that Atiku portrayed an ugly weakness now that Nigerians were unanimous in the search for a competent Commander- in-Chief.
In a report captured from daily post ,the group regretted that the victim, Deborah Yakubu, was another youth, who may have voted Abubakar Atiku in the next election, if she lived.
SaMBA recalls that a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, identified as Deborah Yakubu, was mobbed, and lynched to death by her classmates for alleged blasphemy against the Prophet. The brutal killing of the young girl raised a lot of uproar around the country.
Atiku was alleged to have condemned the killing in a tweet only to delete it after the fanatics threatened to withdraw their votes for him in the coming presidential election.
SaMBA, therefore, appealed to Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) as matter of urgency to sensitize Muslim across the country that killing in the name of God is unislamic because Islam is synonymous to peace.
The statement signed by the SaMBA spokesman also said, “It is very pathetic that Samuel Deborah, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State was stoned to death and set ablaze on Thursday, by her fellow students for allegedly making a blasphemous statement on a WhatsApp group.
“The act by his fellow students is condemnable in its entirety and we call on security agencies to ensure that all those involved in the killing of Deborah Samuel face the full wrath of the law. The case must not be swept under the carpet if we want to bring an end to killings in the name of religion.
We are not afraid to say that all those involved in the killing of Deborah Samuel are potential bandits and boko-haram members.”
SaMBA said: “The former Vice-President has cleared all doubts about his desperation for power and his proclivity to religious fundamentalism, even though he might have made strenuous attempts over the years to hide his bigotry.
“Atiku’s action sends dangerous signals about the kind of president he would be if Nigerians make the mistake of electing him as our Commander-in-Chief.
“He has shown that the blood of innocent people, no matter where they come from, does not matter to him.
“He has shown that he can shield lawbreakers and murderers to protect and preserve his political interest.
“Atiku has portrayed a most disgusting weakness, especially at a time when Nigerians are looking for a competent Commander-in-Chief that can take the war to terrorists.
“For him, political correctness is more important than national correctness, and this is dangerous.”
Calling on Nigerians to elect a president from southern Nigeria SaMBA stated, “a President of the South- East extraction, will heal our nation of such bigotry and build a Nigeria where every section and religion can cohabit harmoniously.”
Eagle’s Sight News reports that Pastor Enoch Adeboye has postponed the crusade fixed to hold in Sokoto following the tension over Deborah Samuel’s murder. The Christian cleric however sends a powerful message in parable to the world.
Recall this medium reported that the deceased was a 200-level Home Economics student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education. Deborah Samuel on Thursday was beaten, stoned and burnt by Muslim youths who accused her of blasphemy.
In a Facebook post Monday night, Adeboye announced the shift of the planned religious event which now holds virtually.
The Redeemed Christan Church of God (RCCG) General Overseer, however, noted that God is able to fix all situations.
Adeboye, who passed his message in parable, cited Richard Halverson, the late American Presbyterian minister who served as United States Senate chaplain.
Halverson had said intercession is the universal work for Christians and that no continent, nation, city, office nor power can stop prayers.
“Postponed but God turned it around. We Trust In Our God’s Big Picture Plan!”, Adeboye wrote.
The Christian cleric insisted believers serve a God who specialises in using the impossible situation for His glory.
Adeboye noted that if in doubt, they should look closely at the death and resurrection of Jesus.
“Devil thought he killed Him, but His death and resurrection resulted into life for many. He keeps turning it around for our good. It is in this might that we proceed”, he added.
Eagle’s Sight News reports that the parents of the late Deborah Samuel of Shagari College of Education Sokoto, Sokoto State have described the death of their daughter as sad and painful, saying they have left her killers to God.
Recall that the remains of Deborah were laid to rest in her hometown, Tungan Magajiya in Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State Saturday evening.
She was stoned to death and set ablaze on Thursday by her fellow students for allegedly making a blasphemous statement on a WhatsApp group against Prophet Mohammed.
Reacting to the death of their daughter, the bereaved parents said they have nothing to say or do regarding the loss of their child, but have decided to leave everything in the hands of God.
In a report captured from daily post, the father, Mr. Emmanuel Garba, a security personnel with the Niger State Water Works Cooperation at Tungan-Magajiya said, “we can’t say or do anything, except to take it easy as an act of God. We have left all to God, we have decided to take it like that”.
On who brought back the body of his deceased daughter from Sokoto State, the father explained that he personally went and brought back her remains to be buried.
“I personally went and brought back the body of my daughter to enable me to bury my own child. This is because keeping her in the morgue will not return her back.
“When I got there, I met government officials and made them understand the need to allow me take her back home and they agreed with me. When we got to the morgue, those in charge asked me to sign the necessary documents and I did. They released the corpse to me.”
On who paid for the transportation, Garba, “I personally, paid the sum of N120,000 to the driver out of many that refused to convey her back home and it is because of the condition of the remains. Most drivers we approached all refused except one.”
Confirming the call by the Sokoto State Government that the body of his daughter should not be returned home, the father of the deceased stated, “the government wanted me to leave the remains, when they called me, I said no, they should allow me to please, bury my daughter.”
Also, the mother, Mrs. Alheri Emmanuel, told our reporter that Deborah was the second of the seven children, adding that it’s so sad to have lost her at such a young age, whom they were relying on to help support them in the future.
On her medical condition, the mother of the deceased explained that she is stable now and discharged from the hospital, where she was admitted upon hearing the news of the gruesome murder of her daughter.
Amid tears, Mrs. Alheri stated,“I have nothing to say, I am grateful to God and for your efforts. I have given God my heart and may God strengthen me. We have nothing to say.
“Because of what happened to me, I will no longer send my children to schools where so much money is involved. Because of her education, the education of some of her siblings suffered as it is so difficult to care for them all at the same time. And, now things are difficult for us”.
Also, her elder brother, Nakaka Garba, when asked for his reaction, he simply stated, “I have nothing to say, we are pained by what happened, but we have left all to God.”
On why their daughter answered Deborah ‘Samuel’ instead of ‘Garba’, the father further added, “she has been living with my brother since she was in primary school and had been using the name”.

The Christian leadership told security agencies to arrest all those who participated in the act.
CAN said the failure of the security agencies and the government to rise up to such criminalities in the past that gave birth to terrorists and bandits.
The body noted that as long as the State fails to bring beasts to book, so also society will continue to be their killing field.
CAN acknowledged the swift reaction of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.
“It is our expectation that the State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, would ensure that the matter is not swept under the carpet, as it was before,” it said.
The statement urged preachers of religious intolerance, extremism and terrorism to repent before the wrath of God descends on them.
“We recall the provocative and demeaning advertisement of the Sterling Bank where the bank compared the Resurrection of Jesus Christ to “Agege bread”.

“Atiku u claim to be a leader & always preach of “One Nigeria” but yet can’t stand up for what is right even if it means u are standing alone; The fact u deleted ur posts condemning the death of Deborah (out of fear) shows u are all about ur self-interest. U are not a leader.”Daniel rega
Eagle’s Sight News confirm from sources that a Christian female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto has been murdered on Thursday morning. She was killed by Muslims who accused her of alleged blasphemy.
Leadership Newspaper reported that the deceased, identified only as Ms Deborah, was accused of passing unflattering comments about Prophet Mohammed on the college campus. Following immediate threats to her safety, she was immediately evacuated to the security post of the school, according to a student who witnessed the development. But the mob pursued her to the security post and overpowered the personnel on duty. A video of how she was murdered and set ablaze has already gone viral on the social media. Authorities of the college have issued a statement announcing immediate closure of the school over the fracas that broke out following the incident.
The Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN ) in Kaduna State Chapter has disowned one Pastor Ade Abraham who offered to take his members to heaven if they pay a fee of N310,000 only.
Rev John Joseph Hayab, Chairman of CAN in Kaduna State, said even though Pastor Ade’s offer of a ticket to heaven was cheaper than the ransom Kaduna bandits asked their victims, sadly, CAN has not found anyone who knows the location of the said church or established a church in Kaduna town with that name or in any local government areas in the state.
According to Hayab in a statement on Tuesday, ” the faceless character like Ade Abraham can easily give the faith of the community a bad name, especially that CAN cannot trace his whereabouts or find any useful information about his being in Kaduna state.”
“Is it possible that Ade Abraham before becoming spiritual had lived in Kaduna or did he come to Kaduna for a visit? How can we have such a pastor and nobody knows him only for us to read about his drama in the media whereas the journalists in Kaduna do not have this information?”
“CAN Kaduna State appeals to whosoever knows pastor Ade Abraham or the location of a church in Kaduna linked to the alleged person to furnish our association with the information so that we could work with security agencies to prevent what could further compound the security challenges faced in the state”.
CAN will not decide what sermon her priests should preach but CAN will not hesitate to expose fake preachers when she finds one, especially when the sermon contradicts the teachings contained in the Holy Scriptures. “
CAN, therefore, calls for a proper investigation of Pastor Ade Abraham’s identity, and the location of his ministry to put the record straight to avoid creating panic and misleading the public”.
“If Pastor Ade Abraham’s camp is in Ekiti and the sacred place where God is coming to rapture those who have paid their rapture fees, why is Kaduna in the story or does he have another strip that the rapture will happen in Kaduna?”
CAN wish to advise the Christian faith not to rush into accepting every kind of teaching without first studying the Scriptures to understand if what the preacher says is true like the Berean believers who studied the Scriptures, day and night, to confirm what the Apostle Paul was saying was true.May God deliver us from unholy preachers in Jesus’ name,” he said.”

Abraham kept about 40 people in his church at the Araromi-Ugbesi in Omuo-Oke, Ekiti State in what he described as preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ, otherwise known as the rapture.

“I did it because I got the authority of God who called me to practise for all that want to serve the Lord with their whole heart.
“I have never received any payment yet from any member of the church, and the Ekiti State Police has intervened in the matter.
“I was called by the police for Investigation and all the members of the church were there and all of them took notes of what happened,” he said.

“Even though Pastor Ade’s offer of a ticket to heaven is cheaper than the ransom Kaduna bandits ask their victims, sadly, CAN has not found anyone who knows the location of the said church or established a church in Kaduna town with that name or in any local government areas in the state.”
