Folajimi Oyekunle, popularly known as DON, as its consensus candidate for the upcoming bye-election into the Federal House of Representatives for Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
The decision emerged following a high-level consultative meeting convened by the Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, and attended by all seven aspirants who had expressed interest in securing the party’s ticket. The gathering, held in Ibadan, brought together key stakeholders determined to present a united front and avoid internal divisions ahead of the bye-election.
Before the final deliberation with the Governor, the seven aspirants had earlier met with prominent PDP leaders and stakeholders within Ibadan North Local Government. All thanks to Governor Seyi Makinde’s inclusive approach. Truly, it pays to be part of the government.” According to the sources, this commitment was instrumental in reinforcing party unity and ensuring that no one felt left out of the process.
The meeting was attended by several influential figures in the PDP, including former Deputy Governor of Oyo State and prominent Ibadan North political leader, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi; Senior Executive Assistant to the Governor, Chief Bayo Lawal; the State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke; and respected Ibadan North PDP stalwart, Baba Ismail Ashipa.
